Palin Introduces Herself and Takes On Obama in Convention Speech

With her address to the GOP faithful she has become the unexpected star of the Republican Party

Her reputation as a reformer took a hit when it was revealed that she originally supported the so-called "Bridge to Nowhere" boondoggle in Alaska and that an influential lobbying firm helped the former mayor win millions in earmarks for her small town of Wasilla.

The McCain campaign declared war on the media for examining the background of an unknown candidate and fact-checking claims Palin and McCain have made about her service in Alaska. And they have branded, legitimately many say, questions about whether a mother of five, should even have considered accepting McCain's offer.

The war continued tonight with a formidable new warrior. And when the new vice presidential nominee was joined on stage by McCain, Republicans who had been fretting all week that his pick of Palin had been cynical or desperate or just plain crazy were thinking something entirely different.

Palin

Well, I wasn't impressed with Palin at all, and I'm tired of the media telling me I am supposed to just because she's a woman. She came off sounding a like a smug and arrogant cheerleader type, did a horrible job of delivery, and did nothing but parrot the same old republican one-liners. From what I've read regarding her policy, she's a right-wing lunatic - and I mean way out there in crazy-land.

She's just not that great and should be yesterday's news. Get over it media people.

Canned applause/laugh track

Yes, I totally noticed this too - it was bloody obvious. I called my friend in Denver, and before I could say anything HE brought it up.

It was the worst of all when Bush spoke. It would start and stop almost immediately, as if some amateur audio engineer was turning up and down the volume of the taped applause quickly.

So far, not one person in the media has mentioned this, and you'd think they'd be the first to do so, since they are really aware of taped laugh/applause tracks.

Palin speaks for me

Finally! The other half of the women in America has found a voice!
