After the appointment of Ms. Palin as the Republican VP candidate, with her rabid personal and political views, and her (at best) challenging personal life, I am changing my decision to vote for Mr. McCain in November.

Race and sex isn't a barrier to run for the White House. Class shouldn't be a barrier as well! Some people have thrown around words as "redneck" and "white trash" at Palin. If the voters are okay with "redneck" and "white trash" in the White House, then they can for McCain. If the voters are ashamed of "redneck" and "white trash" in the White House, then they can vote for Obama.

Along with the growing political shift towards the Christian pro-life movement, Obama is supporting Born Alive Infant Protection Act legislation, while continuing to pragmatically accept Roe vs. Wade. Not until the time that united Catholic, Protestant, and Mormon congregation leaders lead crusading battles against the condemned heretical supporters of pre-meditated murder by abortion, can Roe vs. Wade finally be politically overturned by the supreme will of Christian America.

In the wonderfully escalating Cultural War, the leading Neo-Con and Neo-Lib abortionists shall ultimately be destroyed by whatever Constitutional means necessary, for their notorious roles in causing the sacrificial killing of over 40 million American children.

The Juno Option

Land, Wallace, and the right-wing, anti-poor, anti-science "christian" sect think angle before facts. Bristol's lover is nothing like Juno's sweetie. Witness his recently removed MySpace profile as reported by the Miami Herald [abbreviated by me]:

Furthermore, the Republican Syndicate can't have it both ways. They can't both use the private life of poor Bristol as a talking point AND insist that Democrats remain silent on the relevant family issues. Democrats must rise to say they fight the anti-scientific abstinence-only "education" which increases pregnancy rates and spreads HIV, work to counter the causes of male teenage violence, which include celebration of state violence, and eliminate obstacles to women's education, such as unplanned pregnancy.

In contrast, Richard Land works (or looks over his shoulder, boot-polishes the right boots, orders others around) to instate the ignorance, violence and wealth hierarchy of superstitious, chauvinistic, pseudo-christian, gangster culture.

Different standards

When teen pregnancies in general climb it's evidence of the decline of moral values. When one of those pregnancies is within the family of a conservative candidate the judgment seems very different.

It seems to me that the religious leaders who most frequently condemn such small indiscretions have rushed to the microphones to grant a pardon in this case and declare this a non-issue.

Most of us don't want this to be an issue. However, I'm uneasy that the political forces that have railed about teen pregnancy in the past are now using their clout to push it under the rug.

I often tell my niece that abstinence is the best policy. When Jamie Lynn Spears became pregnant at 17, I blamed Hollywood. What am I supposed to tell her now? How do I say that abstinence is best when it is OK for the vice-president's daughter to get pregnant out of wedlock while the country fawns over her?
