What Role for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic Convention?

Consideration of a symbolic delegate roll-call vote stirs tensions

As a former Hillary supporter, I sent the following letter to Senator Clinton today. I would hope that it reflects the position of responsible Clinton supporters everywhere. I'm appalled to see this pathetic PUMA phenomenon, which I strongly speculate is make up of closet racists (you'll never admit it) and fueled by Republican operatives.

Senator Clinton,

My wife and I were strong supporters of you from the beginning of your campaign. Now, I'm sad to say, we're very disappointed in you and President Clinton for your lack of demonstrated support to unify Democrats behind Senator Obama. Watching you now, jockeying to gain some kind of personal political advantage, is a sad sight to behold.

We believed in you, Hillary. Please show us now that our belief was rightly placed. Speak & demonstrate your support for Obama-Biden loudly, clearly, unequivocally. Do whatever's necessary to shut these PUMA people up. The very best political move you can make right now is to overwhelmingly support Obama.

Loyal Democrats are expecting nothing less from you.

Sincerely,

Craig Mathews

I have not voted in years this would have been my 1st

The only question I have to ask is there a write in on the ballot..........................if the convention wont recognize her supporters maybe we as AMERICANS should if it is there I will write hern in.

Hillary Clinton support

As you will read I am a Hillary supporter. Those of you pointing out Bill's flaws and holding them against Hillary are just ignorant. She is intelligent, hard working, and my idea of a president. If you care to point out Bills flaws why not point out how well she handled the situation... bottom line that has nothing to do with her qualifications. Why not look at her work on health care, her education, and her experience. She deserves the count. BOTTOM LINE maybe not this time watch out in 2012...that is if Obama doesnt mess things up where a democrat could not win in that year. HILLARY I WILL BE WAITING TO CAST MY VOTE FOR YOU IN 2012...

The Man Who Would Be King

When Abraham Lincoln said, “Government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” he meant our form of government. Nor did Lincoln mean for it to perish from the earth. He knew the Union armies would continue to fight for these freedoms. The Revolutionary War had been fought, among other things, to abolish the right of kings on American soil. The 22-Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified to limit the terms an American president could serve, to no more than twice. There exist political dynasties in America, but they're few in number. However, the Clintons represent an end-run around the 22-Amendment. So, if you're just plain sick and tired of the Clintons, it's not without good reason: http://theseedsof9-11.com

the clinton era is over. Bill and Hillary need to recognize this and move on with their lives. They do not have the power the seek anymore.

Convention/Clinton still stirring up controversy

She needs to just make a speech telling all of her delegates that she is 100% behind Obama and for them. as well as her little groupies out there to do the same. And for Bill to walk a careful stride.....cause we can bring up your little stunt with MOnica if the Democrats keep dragging down Edwards!!!

I am so tired of the Clintons trying to high profile!!

Watch out Obama.....don't let your kindness become your weakness on this one.

If this backfires in your face, you didn't deserve to be President as I so whole heartedly think of you as.....

SOUNDS SNEAKY TO ME!

She has stirred up so much contoversy all during the Primaries yet she is Still doing the same at the convention!

Stilling Obama's spotlight once again.......Over, and Over again.....She loves the spotlight!!!!

Lights cameras............ok now GOODBYE!!!! ONCE AND FOR ALL!

What would be interesting is....someone reminding Americans what He, Bill Clinton did when he WAS PRESIDENT. (Not running for)and as everyone is hammering poor Edwards......oops here comes Monica.

Put a sock in your mouth Hill.....IT IS OVER FOR YOU NOW!!!!!

NO MORE.......OF YOUR WAR!!!!!

I really think it is time for the Clinton's to take the high road and be quiet for a change. I am so tired of listening to all their lies and how wonderful they are. What have either one of them done.

Clinton as President was so, so he did nothing to protect Americans and did nothing when the World Trade Center was bombed the first time. He then forced Israel to release one of the pilots who flew the plane into the World Trade Center on 9/11. As far as Hillary goes I have as much experience as she does. She still has done nothing for New York and foolish people will vote for her again.

If named VP I would never consider voting for Obama and I am not alone. The Clintons are not his friends and I would be very careful with them around.

Time to move on with someone who will help this country. Hillary and Bill have always thought only of themselves and still are not doing a thing to bring harmony into the party. If they were real about it she would ask her people to vote for him Instead she is setting herself up again to be President. A woman would make a GREAT PRESIDENT but not Hillary.

Hillary Clinton for VP

If Obama wants the presidency to be a slam dunk, all he has to do is put Hillary in the VP slot. It's a no brainer.

Why gamble with anyone else?

Kris

Hillary should be named the Nominee

How can we talk about integrity when she lied about her trip to Bosnia. Talk about being hoodwinked, and her daughter even backed up her lie. Hmmm... seems like this party can use the term loosely or maybe it is just the way you interpret what is a "white lie"???.... I hope the DNC will nominate her and I will be very happy to see this party torn apart. I am a Black republican and I will not just give away my vote as many other Blacks have. The Black vote has been taken for granted for too long now by the democratic party.

What Role for Hillary Clinton

Senator Barack Obama earned more votes and more delegates than any other presidential candidate in America's history. He earned the title; Presumptive Democratic Nominee by campaigning hard against a worthy opponent for nearly 18 months.

As of this writing, Senator Obama has earned the support of America's Hispanic vote, women, low-income workers, AA's, Catholics and every other demographic.

Yet, 2 months following we are still hearing about the 18 mil voters that Sen. Hillary Clinton suppossedly holds sway over. My question is hasn't Sen. Clinton exercised the necessary influence over her 18 million supporters to retire her campaign debt?

By my calculation, if each of the 18 million supporters of Clinton donated just $1.50 to her campaign, she would be debt free. Why hasn't this happened?

It has not happened because 18 million voters are not following her. There is a small group of die-hard supporters who are emotionally driven and delusional about Sen. Clinton's role in the Democratic Party.

She is a notable leader, the first viable female candidate for POTUS. She has the resume, name recognition, the education and influence necessary to be a major political player in our country going forward. But Sen. Clinton is just one Senator out of many who have campaigned for POTUS. She is not a senior Senator, she's a junior. She and President Clinton need time to heal. But while they are healing, they both need to get behind our Party's nominee and help our Party to win the 2008 election.
