Vice President Huckabee All the Way!

I live in Arkansas, & Mike Huckabee has made our state a wonderful place to live for the working people. The only taxes raised here while Mike was in office Were VOTED ON BY THE PEOPLE, not the governor!...I like Mike & he will always look out for America first!..

Cheney

Whoever thinks McCain thinks Bush does everything right doesn't know McCain or Bush...even the very funny JimJam it's time for a little campaigning understands that. The greatest arguement against democracy is 15 minutes with the average voter. Looks like it takes less than 5 here.

H stands for "hypocrit"?

As far as hypocrisy goes, even Mike Huckabee would be the first to agree with you that we're all hypocrites, albeit hypocrites in need of a savior.

If you're going to judge the guy so harshly ("H" stands for "hypocrit"), at least spell the word correctly. You dropped the "e" at the end of the word, as in "Enough" already.

Huckabee, the ideal choice

Why is Huckbee the ideal choice?

For one, Huckabee's voters just won't go away. They're not just loyal, they're passionate - for both him and the Republican platform. (It's what got Ronald Reagan elected. remember him?) If there's one thing the Republican party needs now is passion and vigor.

Yup, Huckabee raised taxes in his state, but it fit the scenario when Arkansas' infrastructure was among the worst in the country. I can relate - I'm a Californian, and when Reagan did the same thing as governor, we Democrats all hated him for it then, too, but hindsight deemed it's validity. When Reagan became a Republican, even the Dems secretly voted for him for another term. Though his views were very conservative and unwavering, he got things done in a way that worked with and benefited all Americans. As history shows, this was not lost on our toughest Cold War enemies, who later openly spoke of President Reagan with the utmost respect.

Huckabee's courage in the face of criticism as governor has been gutsy and admirable. His Democrat peers also recollect him also making hard decisions that his Clinton predecessors wouldn't touch in their state. But like Reagan, he focused on what was best course for the constituency, not his reputation. What can't be ignored is that Huckabee gained tremendous support from a historically Democrat-run state that also inhabits a large population of black and impoverished voters: They liked him so much, they re-elected him twice.

The State that was among the bane of the nation's existence soon became a model of how to transform a State through hard decisions, action, and bipartisan effort. Huckabee became the longest serving governor in Arkansas and was named by Time magazine as one of the "America's Five Best Governors" in 2005. Among his feats, Huckabee reduced the number of uninsured Arkansans from 18% to 9% in the fiscal year 2003-04 (See the article here: time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1129494,00.html )

Should our incoming VP become President, Huckabee's negotiating abilities on the foreign relations front could fill the bill. There is bipartisan agreement that he is a highly effective communicator and diplomat, both immeasurable qualities. His powers of persuasion are second-to-none. When he addresses serious issues, he will hold a room with substance, not rhetoric. A good VP has the ability to assess a situation, use insight, be decisive, and defuse tension in the most difficult of situations. Huckabee has proven himself in this regard by running one of the most difficult states to govern and his hands-on mutual aid response in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The Republican Party has been in desperate need to invigorate itself. Huckabee has, far and away, shown himself indispensable. He stays true to the Republican platform while demonstrating the class to reach across the aisle. Few individuals are qualified to be VP, but none would energize the Party and the nation as a whole than Mike Huckabee.

I don't trust Huckabee anymore...

Huckabee disappointed me greatly when he self-righteously tried to trump the "Christian" card in the election, directly trying to convince voters to vote against Mormonism rather than against Mitt Romney (a bigoted and hypocritical strategy).

Of course, Huckabee tried to appear innocent the whole time he was bashing Romney's religion (rather than Romney himself as he should have done), asking, for example, the seemingly innocent question, "don't Mormons believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers?" while simultaneously being fully aware of Mormon beliefs, having been a speaker himself at the recent Soutern Baptist Convention in SLC, Utah (his speech was carefully taken off the internet prior to the election).

Likewise, when Huckabee "unknowingly" had that white cross mysteriously appear behind him in that commercial over Christmas, attempting to appear angelic or even "chosen" to evangelical Iowa- that was a big turn-off- not only to evangelicals, but to many wealthy Republican Mormons, who saw this, as they had to, as a direct attack against their faith- not against Romney.

Then there was that commercial fiasco when Huckabee said he wasn't going to release his mean-spirited commercial and then he did- to the press, knowing it would be seen more this way than by paying TV stations to run it. Are we to believe he didn't realize this? Are his deceptive techniques acceptable for a potential VP of the United States, let alone a Preacher? I don't think so; I think the "H" in Huckabee stands for HYPOCRIT.

I originally didn't want Romney for President or even VP, but after seeing the true character of Hucabee and some others in this race, it appears to me that Romney is not only the most experienced and capable VP option for McCain, but one of the last remaining politicians with some degree of integrity.

Huckabee is a deceptive, bigoted hypocrit

Kathleen Sebelius might offend Hillary supporters

Kathleen Sebelius has much more experience and much less baggage than Hillary by a longshot. Surprise, surprise--many who love the idea of having a woman in that kind of power position really couldn't stomach Hillary, and Sebelius would appeal to those voters. She would also help Obama look more moderate. I don't see many Hillary supporters moving to McCain because a different woman is chosen for the VP slot. I do see a lot of feminists hopping on the Sebelius bandwagon: to reject her for not being Hillary is to suggest that only one woman has the qualifications for the office, which is pretty anti-feminist.

vp,s

Either Joseph of Ky. is embellishing mr Huckabees record or I'd have to say he's a natural. Another thing is that he's read books on The "fair Tax" and is aware of how well this is working in other parts of the world. Looks like a definite asset to me. Of course the liberal press would devote reams of newsprint to his religion but ,as R. Mugabe is wont to say "go Hang". Why not bring up a "very important" issue, the reform of our tax code? That and the energy crisis could be a winner. I can't see any holes in the 23% flat tax plan. Get with it McCain.. Also, since we're out of money , why not impose a surcharge on online gambling ? It would be more fair than the outrageously negative "take" from the worst tax on poor, naive people, ever to come round the bend. I'd like to see "Mac" president but only if he were to throw off his rigid thought process with which he could never get anything done with a Democratic congress anyway.

Mike Huckabee is the only Choice

Mike Huckabee has won every internet poll -- he's the most likeable candidate -- and he's carried all the Red states that McCain must win to succeed this fall.

Romney has flip flopped on all the important issues -- and has the reputation of saying anything to gain power. He would be a disaster to the ticket!

WTF is a Democrate?

To Taylor of AZ - I always thought it was Democrat, not Democrate...
