Some Black Republicans Torn About Voting for Obama or McCain

The historic nature of Obama's candidacy has some African-American Republicans conflicted

I'm White and I'd Vote for a Black Guy...But NOT OBAMA!

If the Black Community would actually read what Obama has stood for, maybe they would put their color aside. I would vote for a Black, conservative president in a heart beat if I thought he had a chance. Or I would have been so happy if McCain would have selected Allan Keyes or JC Watts as his running mate. I am noticing a thread of information that makes me so sad as I Google. I see that Republicans have given Black Republican Representatives a hard time. They should be treating them with lots of respect and giving them a sense of worth in the Republican Party. Republican Party...wake up! Republicans were the ones who voted to abolish slavery and many other things after that to support blacks.

I'm not thrilled about McCain. But the thought of Obama horrifies me. If Obama was a moderate or sliding to the "right" type of a democrat, I'd vote for him if he didn't agree with abortion and didn't have the past he has. But he's so far to the left that it's really scary. Folks, start reading about his past. Don't vote for color. Did you know that more black babies are aborted than any other ethnic race in America?...(37%). We all know how Obama feels about this. But he's also for partial birth abortion. Come on folks, wake up. My hope is for McCain to win. McCain believes in following the Constitution as was laid out by our founding fathers. The Democrats want to slur and water down the Constitution to fit their liberal views...horrifying! But then in the next election, we must get a very valued and respected black man on the Presidential ticket...or at the very least, for Vice President. Republicans, wake up, wake up, wake up. Start supporting our black reps in Congress and the Senate. Make them feel valued.

McCain & Palin

I am a fiscal and social conservative. I believe in small government and low intrusion in our lives. Obama's policies may give people hope, but it's false hope. You must remember that the USA is trillions in debt, involved militarily in Afghanistan, Iraq, with real possibilities of going into Pakistan under Obama, tensions with Russia are high, and we're getting ready to bail out Fannie and Freddie to the tune of billions. America doesn't have a bottomless bank account. Obama's policies will require an ever-expanding government and billions in financing ..... where is this money supposed to come from? It'll eventually come from the taxpaper through increased taxes. McCain believes in less government intrusion in people's life, supports small business, is fiscally conservative and has a much better handle on what needs to change in government to improve people's lives.

What "big ticket" item has Obama accomplished - nothing

I'm a Democratic Latina and I'm not voting for Obama. It has nothing to do with Salin swaying my vote. I decided before the VP announcement that I was not voting for Obama. Why am I not voting for him - because our country is in turmoil with too many major issues that need to be dealt with by the next President - we have finacially issues, energy issues, immigration issues, security issues, threats from various countries that are escalating etc. I can't in my right mind put someone in the President's office with no "real" major accomplishments or "real" experience in the midst one of this countries most difficult times. What has Obama truly accomplished to promote his to President. I know of no major legilative change that he's brough about and in mnay house votes he didn't take a postion but instead voted "present". The bulk of his time as a Senator has been spent on campaigning for Presidency so that seems to be his major accomplishment.

RE: This is funny?

Hi Ashley of FL..."This is funny"? That's brilliant that you automatically assume that every black person is a democrat. I won't use the R word, but how narrow minded of you to think so. And you also think that all gay people are democrats as well. I'm guessing you don't know many. I have many friends that are gay and most are voting for McCain.

"clearly don't like them or could care less about them" maybe you should just stick to speaking for yourself and not the entire Republican party and their voters.

Congrats, you just suceeded in spreading the southern stereotype of ignorance and only seeing things black/white, straight/gay.

McCain & Palin

McCain experience may have experience of world politics but he always in question in our issues at home.

I respect the Repulicans but they "never" touched on issues or support blacks.

This is funny

Black Republican that’s a new oxy moran. Black Republicans are funny to me, they are whiter then white people are. You can't say anything to them to sway their opinion, their just hard headed people. I don't understand why black people would vote for people who clearly don't like them or could care less about them. It's funny to me. A black Republican is the same as a Gay Republican. WHY!!! I just shake my head.

McCain & Palin

I don't think Obama has enough experience. I'm a black female who usually votes democratic. This time I'm voting for the best team: McCain & Palin.

Take Your Blinders Off

Black Americans(African Americans) refuse to take their blinders off! I'm a proud Black Republican. The Dems take the "black" vote for granted. The "First" black president "Bill Clinton" and his clan has proven that. Don't assume blacks have always been Dems read the history books and then you may not only open your mind but also your eyes.

McCain offers nothing new

I consider myself a fiscally conservative and socially liberal, which used to make me a republican, now a days I am a democrat. I respect John McCain, but his policies are nothing more than the extension of the failed Bush administration. While we don't know if Obama can make the changes he is promising he is the only one that is for changing course. To me the choice boils down to more of the same or vote for a candidate that promises change and we must hold him to it.

Obama-puleez

I am a black McCain supporter. McCain has done more for this country and Obama has a razor thin resume with nothing in it.
