First off Obama is out to kill all oil drilling anywhere in or around the USA.The 4.00 a gallon is going to look good this time next year.We need to kick this man out of office he has sold out all the VETS and he is working on the working person.SS is going to have less money coming that means old uncle sam is going up on taxes in next year or so be ready for.With less money in SS and that means a lot less money for WELFARE. That's when the guns come out and crime goes up and things get out of hand;then what.I say DRILL,DRILL NOW before this happens and it will talk to the working man ,not the good old boys in Washington DC;they are the ones with those big hands out.

My husband use to own a construction company, due to the economy he had no work for 6 months and we lost our house. We relocated our family because he found work in the oil field. Now a month after trying to financially get back on our feet he is worried because a lot of the oil companies are shutting down. So you tell ME how I am going to be able to "enjoy the environment" when we can't even find a place to live?

P.S. Why are we supporting a country that hates us?

Drilling?

Although I have not read all the posts on this subject the ones I have read seems to miss the point and are single minded in thinking the only reason for offshore drilling and creating alternative energy sources is for the US to become less dependent on foreign oil for our own needs. I agree we need to become independent and a big part of that is creating alternative energy sources, however, do you think that Russia had only one goal in mind when they increased their production? Is Saudia Arabia or other middle east countries only thinking about being oil independent? NO! Oil is a natural resource that is sought after by every developing country in the World, it is a sellable comodity. The US has a significant amount of this sought after commodity and could make billions on it by selling it to other countries. As we ease ourselves off the use of fossil fuel we will see other countries in need (China for example) and we could become a major exporter of the product and make a hansome profit. We have become so self centered that we can only think in terms of OUR own needs and dependency. Wake up, we have sucessfully given up our competitiveness on most every other major export and have become an improt nation. Wake up America! We were founded on capitalism and free market and now we are being beat by socialists. We are supporting pur enemies by purchasing goods and paying them a lot of money. Drilling offshore or developing other methods (oil shell) will not depreciable reduce our gaoline prices... The use of fossil fuel is World issue not a US issue, any politician that uses the price of gasoline as a polititical issue is pandering! They are not going to effect the price of gas.
