puerto rico

Puerto Rico is a great place to visit and just kick back and relax as the warm sun and beautiful beach overcomes your body! The look out over your hotels are amazing. Many sites to see and weird things to eat but it doesn't hurt to try a few odd tastes.

Puerto Rico

I really need to know facts about puerto rico!please i need your help!

Vendepatrias

I feel every so called "Puerto Rican" who thinks Puerto Rico should be a state is a vendepatria. If you love the USA so much why don't you stop backing Miss Puerto Rico and back Miss USA instead at Miss Universe? Why don't you stop backing the Puerto Rican boxer and go for the American one instead?

I respect your right to feel as you want and I am actually friends with some high profile PNP people who know I am an independentista. However, the truth is the truth and whoever critizises me is hurt by the truth. PNP backers are vendepatrias and not real Puerto Ricans. And guess what? Independence will happen before statehood because if the USA wanted Puerto Rico to become a state, they would have done it already in the 91 years since the Jones act!

I love the USA and live in the USA. And I love American people. But I will never be one of them as shown to me even by the racism I have lived through on my own skin and bones, so do you really think if PR was to become a state that Americans would welcome us with open arms? Hell no! If Puerto Rico becomes a state, I can see KKK going to our COUNTRY, and burning crosses and houses because nobody except short minded PNP's want Puerto Rico and 4 million other Latinos (yes, PNP backers, because your last names are Molina, Rodriguez, Rivera, so you are LATINO) to become part of the USA.

Puerto Rico needs it's independence

I think 110 years of direct colonialism (1898-1951) and 50 plus of a pseudocolonial status called Associated Free State (1952- present) is enough. That is why Puerto Rico is being discussed at the United Nations today, that is why our governor speaks out against colonialism at the Decolonization Comittee at the UN.

I am puerto rican and i think my country , Puerto Rico, needs to stand in it's own two feet and become sovereign, either an Associated Republic like our present governor wants or a fully independent republic. Our economy cannot wait any longer. Plus, the US congress will never have a spanish speaking, latin american nation as a US state, much less with a strong national identity like Puerto Ricans do. They do not want to have a new Quebec or Tibet in their very own country.

Gracias Ms. Marrero

Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are a reason as to why we should be the 51st State of the union. I am a proud american born in Puerto Rico just like you. I can not even compare my life experiences with yours and your husband. I am only 39 yrs. old and my life experience is just a dot in your essay of life. However, I know how to appreciate life and what is right. You are an example of what a true american is all about. I hope that I could experience as much as you have. Thank you and Thank you to your husband for his service to the United States, Puerto Rico, and the World.

Statehood Status for Puerto Rico

I was born in Ponce,Puerto Rico a year after Puertoricans were awarded the citizenship status ( Jones Act of 1917)//

My parents migrated to the the mainland when I was 19months..My father was in the Merchant Marine (sailor aboard the Freighter 'Los Brazos'. The Port of Call was New York..He decided to make NY his Port of Call when his retired from the Merchant Marine..

To make a long story and a wonderful story short..I was married just before WWll..

My husband was deployed to the European Theater of War..

After the war my husband was assigned to Camp Zama in Tokyo. Our three childen and I participated in the People to People Program which Pres. Eisenhower started.

I taught in the Tamagawa Gakuen University teachin the students conversationa. Engish, Became an arduous student of Ikebana (the Oriental Art of Flower Arragement) etc.

My husband also born in P.R. was awarded the Bronze Star medal for bravery during his participation in the Italian part of WWll.

He was chosen and assigned as Presidential Aid to President Eisenhower during his Inaugural festivities.

I certainly feel that Puerto Rican residents should have the privilege to vote in the National Presidential race.. We should also be added to the 50 states already sharing the statehood status.

I feel as many Puerto Ricans who have lived, participated and backed this country that we sholud have that star added to the flag to represent the many contributions we have made to this great country.

And Hillary Murdered Vince Foster

Really Jace, since we're camping out in black helicopter territory, it is incumbent upon me to remind you of the torrid affair that Hillary had with Vince Foster - before she had him murdered. I know you have only the highest ethical expectations of your candidate.

DNC STEALS VOTERS VOICES

DNC STEALS VOTERS VOICES!!!

TAKES DELEGATES FROM CLINTION AND GAVE THEM TO OBAMA!!!!

DNC Committee awarded to Senator Obama not only the delegates won by Uncommitted, but also delegates won by Senator Clinton. This decision violates the bedrock principles of our democracy and our Party.

SUPPORTERS URGE SENATOR CLINTON TO RUN AS INDEPENDENT

Obama proved Rev Wright was correct!!! Correct, right politically correct, that is. The fact that it is "painful" and took 20 years suggests that he agrees with these racists "under the covers". He resigned not necessarily because he wants to but because it is the only course open to him. he believes what is spewed at that so-called White hate church of Christ!

WE DO NOT ACCEPT OBAMAS POLITICAL DAMAGE APOLOGY!!!

SHOCKING Obama words: what he really thinks of white folks

51st. State

It is time to make Puerto Rico the 51st State of the Union. Puertoricans would like to see an additional star on the US flag representing the State of Puerto Rico. I am an American born in Puerto Rico residing in Oregon. The island can not continue the current status. Also, the island can not be an independent nation. For so long we have demonstrated to be model citizens and have died in many wars fighting for this nation. It is an injustice that while in the island, american citizens can not vote for the President of the United States. Young man and woman in Puerto Rico join the military daily to defend this nation. However, they can not vote for the President, Setanors and Congress Representatives, which are those that send them to war. Since Puerto Rico is an award of the US Congress, the time has come for the US Congress to make Purto Rico the 51st. State.

Andres' Misguided Comments

Andres' comments are misguiding. The only "minority" in the US Commonwealth of Puerto Rico are those who support independence (5%, and waning) - the vast majority of Puerto Ricans support a permanent relationship with their nation: the United States of America - the nation they have fought for in numerous wars. PR, as a former governor and prominent member of the Democratic Party (Governor Rosello) once explained, has never been a "nation". The only question is the NATURE of that relationship, and quite frankly, Congress should settle the issue permanently by offering two options: full independence or the formation of a 51st state joining both PR and the US Virgin Islands into a single state (the only territory that meets the Constitutional population requirement for statehood is PR - it would be the Virgin Island's only chance, in reality). The US needs to reduce the ambiguity of its territories for the sake of order and clarity. In PR, leaders of the Independence, Pro-Commonwealth, and Statehood parties have all perpetuated the myth that Puerto Ricans are second-class American citizens and some have fueled a false sense of "nationality" among residents based on this falsehood - any person born in the US Commonwealth of PR is free to move to the mainland to exercise full citizenship rights and vote in the general election (even run for President, actually... just ask Senator John McCain who was born in a US territory to parents who, just like many Puerto Rican-born Americans, were in the service) - the status of the island does NOT affect American citizens born there - it affects any American citizens that choose to reside there, even if they are born in any of the current 50 states. Many Puerto Ricans have proudly contributed to our national sports teams and the US Olympic Team, e.g., Roberto Clemente - who was very proud to be an American - and tennis player Gigi Fernandez, who proudly delivered gold medals for the US Olympic Team. The Puerto Rico Olympic team is about as absurd as Virginia having its own Olympic team: it has been grandfathered into existence. Under current International Olympic Committee rules, it shouldn't be allowed to have its own Olympic team. I suspect that if Andres had to manage with the average income per-capita that most Puerto Ricans deal with - half that of the poortest state in the Union - he would be more than happy to negotiate a status that afforded island residents economic opportunity that is up to par with the rest of the 50 states. Of course, if it's OK to join the team for the economic benefit, it seems to me it's only fair we honor the integrity of the sports teams representing our nation, much like Gigi Fernandez did. Let me remind Andres, that the 2004 "Dream Team" was not hard to beat... out of its original 12 outstanding members (chosen in 2003), only 2 remained by 2004 - the Puerto Rico basketball team beat a rather watered-downed version of the team that had been assembled a year before. Not much of a battle, I'm afraid, Andres.
