Our Country Needs to Pause-But for How Long?

As an average middle class American, raised on the east coast and now having spent most of my life in the mid west, I am asking our next president to give this country a period of time to examine ourselves collectively on all of the major issues. I propose we declare a moratorium on immigration,NAFTA, reimpose regulation of enery for a period for example. We will determine how long it should last, unpressured by externals. We need to demonstrate that America controls America. We should repeat this daily publicly and privately and then we must believe it and move forward to our own benifit. As average Americans there is a deep sense of being subjects of our politcal machine and not free americans.Terrorists and anarchists know this and feed it. We, as legal citizens, have no obligation to cowar to the demands of those in this country illegally and are not bound to act according to their urgency, only our own. It is a well known fact that if you can not love and care for yourself it is impossible for you to provide that to others. Until this country can demonstrate an ability to provide love and care for our own people , we cannot be positioned to do this for the world. I am not someone that typically subscribes to what would be described as conspiracy theory and am also aware that those politcal and military powers on this planet that would see us defeated as a world power or as any kind of power , align themselves against us. Still we allow members of those societies to enter our borders without determination of their purpose here. We allow known criminals to cross our border , steal identites,claim medical care and commit crimes against Americans.

On the subject of national healthcare, I say beware. I watched "Sicko" and as someone involved in healthcare for 30 years it demonstrates gross misinformation. Most of this country subsists on some type of public assistance and a much smaller percentage of the population provides the tax money to our governments( local, state and federal ) to support these programs. Abuse of access occurs mostly amongst this population, excluding medicare of which our seniors and truly diabled should be provided. There is something awry when able bodied Americans refuse to work for a paycheck and persist with efforts to achieve income,free of effort. Additionally, if national healthcare is forced then let be forced for all Americans, equally and without exception from the president of this country down to the smallest child.

I realize I am not more than a needle in a haystack and the likelihood of these thoughts falling on no ears or deaf ears is high. I am a patriot. Today, this statement is often misinterpreted as supporting current government policy. If you believe that, you are mistaken. Patriotism is love of country and the essence of what it has stood for and accomplished. If we fail to pass this along to our young it will be lost. Afterall, everyone seems to want to take it from us.
