Tim Pawlenty
So how much time did Gov.Pawlenty spend in the military?About the same as Sen.Obama. Instead of getting good grades and going to Harvard he played hockey and went to a public university.
Fortunate Son
In response to a previous comment, I'd like to expose the negativity and total lack of respect that the some democrats have not only for the majority of the republican party and it's people, but for the entire United States of America and our government as a whole. And the comment is about song selection...?!
The way i interpret the playing of Fortunate Son by the Pawlenty campaign is that the entire campaign was celebrating the fact that the son of a blue collar truck driver, who may have been seen by some as "unfortunate" when compared to others, was now in a very fortunate position, hence showing that no matter what or where you come from, dreams, determination, and ambition are what make us a success. That's what makes us all fortunate, actually.
We need more leaders like Pawlenty, and followers alike, to rid this nation of the political anxiety, stress, and utter mayhem placed upon it by those looking to find an easy excuse for every problem. Instead, we need to look for answers. We need those who do, not those who say. We need unification, not a disassembly of our government.
Is this really all that the reader got out of this article? How about the fact that he served as lead council for the Minn. School District, or that he's spent more than half of his life working towards goals without the physical presence of his mother after sadly experiencing her passing at 16yrs old. The latter of the equation insists that he isn't a quitter, and doesn't give up, no matter what the circumstances. And so on, and so forth.
God Bless America! May this time of tribulation only make us stronger as a nation and closer as it's people and citizens. It is not just up to our leaders to lead. We need to be good listeners and great followers.
We need a McCain-Pawlenty ticket. What better place than The USA! What better time than now!
Chickenhawk Politician
You mean like Barack Obama?
Really, I'm not too sure you want to scream "chickenhawk" too loudly when your guy has 0 military experience of any sort and the other guy spent 5 years in a POW camp where he was tortured and beaten. It just makes you sound like a retard.
War-mongering?
Which war did Pawlenty monger? Did Minnesota invade Iowa and I just never heard about it?
Another chickenhawk politician
8. Pawlenty is a fan of rock music, including artists such as Bruce Springsteen. In the fall of 2001 when he kicked off his gubernatorial campaign in South St. Paul, the song playing was Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son."
Fortunate Son is about the exemptions from the draft that were secured for the "fortunate sons" of lawmakers and other well-connected parents during the Vietnam War. Appropriate song for yet another war-mongering politician who never served.
