Racial Torch

The Racial Torch is not being carried by Black people, but mostly by white people and now people of other races, in our meltiing pot of humanity. The problem that nubian/ black people have is not with blaming the descendants of slave owners and other past perpretrators but the fact that, in todays society racial bias still persists, towards peope of color is an indication that it has still alive.. Racial profiling by police officers on black and hispanic motorists has been thoroughly documented, as a dark skin is still considered a badge of guilt min the eyes of many. Poeple of color would be able to totally forgive past sins of the purveyors of slavery if only they were not being confronted with it on a daily basis, at work, school, while being followed around in stores, and while driving. Imagine a black man is driving an expensive car whether or not he/she is a professional; a Professor/ Doctor/ Engineer or simply a hard working citizen and being assumed to be a hoodlum simply based on his darker complexion. Black doctors and professors, and even ministers have been treated with disdain at the hands of some racist whilt person; but what is more disheartening is that even other races such as Asians, East Indians, and some hispanics of a lighter hue have started to treat black peolple direspectfully based on skin tone. I wish most white people would realize that black people come in different shades and some are even so light-skinned as to appear white. I have personally seen black men mistaken for white; where they were accepted as such, until there family/ kids with a darker hue are in there company and the white persons or people who was once engaging them wanted nothing to do with even holding casual conversations with them; while they show signs of being traumatized. This shows how utterly riduculous, racial bias is, because in our society of mixed heritages where is the cut off point of color. Undoubtedly several poeple working among us who appear white are truly not. So what are we left with; treating the really dark skinned, beter than we treat their light skinned relatives?--- Purely assinine!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Wright can say "America has sinned in the past" (very true, including slavery), but when you finish the sentence with "thus we deserved 9/11", that is anti-American and factually indefensible. 9/11 was perpetrated by 20 Muslim terrorists, half of whom had the middle name of Hussein, for no reason except the cowardice whereby they can infiltrate this country, not declare war like real men do, and kill thousands of civilians here because they cannot do that to their true enemy, Israel, as they (muslims) have gotten their ass handed to them the last 50 years.

And don't compare Hagee (who insults Jews, New Orleans and Catholics, then apologizes) to Wright, who insults any American that uses suntan protection during the summer. Hagee endorsed McCain, he didn't marry McCain or batized his children. McCain didn't attend Hagee's church for one month, let alone 20 years. The true comparison of Hagee is Hamas. Both have endorsed a candidate. I think the majority of America realizes which of these two is the less dangerous association.

Rev. Wright is protected under the amendments with the freedom of speech, other wise he would have long been in jail for his words of encouragement to incite hate, racism and anti-America. First, SLAVERY was abolished generations ago! At least 5 generations, if not more, has since been born after the slave era. Second, why should the children, generation after generation, still be assumed to make something right when they were never involved or existed? This country was divided and brother fought against brother, and white U.S. citizens were among those who fought and died to abolish slavery! The price has already been paid with lives during the civil war!! In fact, I believe the U. S. purchased land in the African continent for all the freed slaves and any were free to leave, or free to stay in this country. Therefore, many free African ancestors made the choice to stay here in America. In addition, those generations of slave owners have long since died and their bodies have turned to dust, and that generation of slave owners will have to deal with their decision and behavior when they meet their maker. Still, in my 53 yrs. of life, I have been a military spouse and lived across this great nation and in foreign countries. The only times I have heard any type of racial comment it was spoken with malice from an African-American descendent. Therefore, racism will never stop as long as someone uses it as a tool to cause strife and hatefulness. As any God fearing minister, reverend, preacher and so on, should know that to permote 'HATE' is not the teachings of the Bible, and he who does so will suffer greatly when they meet their maker! Finally, anyone reading this look at their child, grandchild, niece, or other young sibling and tell them they have to pay for their great-great-great-grandparents, parent's sins--now is that a ridicules thought? Hope you sensibly and logically got the point!

Take a good look around at the wonderful opportunities that this country provides and thank God on your knees that you live in the greatest country in the history of the world.............Shame on you.......ungrateful bastard. Sheez.

I am a 62 year old, white male, Vietnam veteran. I used to have a little respect for Obama, now I thing he needs to man up. Reverend Wriight knows his bible and he knows history. If some people find the truth inconvenient or uncomfortable maybe they need to examine their own shortcomings. Personally I don't think Reverend Wright should be Vice President. I do think however that he couldn't be any worse than hillary, Obama, McCain or Bush.

I am disheartened to hear and see the character assassination of the Rev, Wright.

We Americans are a weird Lot, we run from the truth at every turn.

Most claim to be Christians, but most of us don't go to Church-especially members of the media. That being the case,would we know Christ if he stood before us, would we be able to follow his admonitions, would we not attempt to destroy him also.

As human beings we are still motivated by our selfish desire for self preservation, and when we feel that is secure, to dominate.many times at the detriment of other human beings; i.e. our willingness to destroy the people of Iraq, so that we don't have to fight the terrorist here, how cowardly.

I am fifty-six years old and over that time I have seen how we have ignored the plea of the helpless, and acted with expedience at the expense of indigenous people around the world. we have viewed them as less than human.

The dominate culture in this country has won again,by pitting two black men against each other. We divide and conquer those with the least power. that is how we keep people in their place-how cruel. When we see black or Hispanic people of strength and courage we want to discard them as quickly as possible. We did it to Marin Luther King,and when we couldn't get him the clean way, through character assassination, we killed him.

This country reeks of nationalism, what has happened here during the last, almost 8 years,is the greatest cause for alarm. I believe that even if our structures were destroyed, but we still had the Constitution left standing, we would again become the beckon of hope and the light of freedom in the world. But forces within our nation are at work to destroy our Constitution, and the freedoms we so dearly love.

They haven't lifted a gun, in fact they wear flag pins,and claim to be patriots.We still have time to take it back.

Sinclair Lewis once said that when fascism comes to America, it will be cloaked in the flag and carrying a cross. We need to be vigilant.

I,m thinking of our teen age grandchildren..What in the world are they thinking of all of us regardless of to which party we belong? Race, gender or age is not an issue with any of the people we know.. and will not be even though canidates and media are pushing the issues.. We are just trying to find the best person to help get America, the best nation on earth with all it's faults, out of the mess we have created.. We all have to take responsabiliy for our vote and the choice of leaders we put in office.. I did not vote for the current administration..and those that did need to recognize their responabily in doing so.. Let's think this one through..and not let anything but issues affect our choice.. Independant voter
