Universal single payer health care can be administered for about 4%.No private insurance companies. The present system of private insurance companies costs about 30% for administration and profit. On top of this it costs medical offices and hospitals at least 10% to collect the payments.

Health Care

Why are we talking "Universal Health Insurance" instead of "universal health care?"

Insurance is a PRODUCT and they are trying to require everyone to have it just the same as if they would require everyone to buy a TV or buy a cell phone or any other PRODUCT. And, they are trying to make certain that the sellers of the insurance PRODUCT make a profit. We need true health CARE reform to provide medical care for every citizen of this country as a RIGHT. PROFIT needs to be taken out of the equation--health care should be a public utility, just as gasoline should be.

Uninsured/2004 Voters

If you take a ratio of the uninsured to the total amount of people that voted in the 2004 election that means that 56% of the voter base could have been without insurance. Now if we assume that the majority of the individuals that voted had medical insurance then if the uninsured population became part of the population that voted just on this issue that would be an easy win for the party that supports universal healthcare.

Hillary vs Obama

I was a big HIllary supporter,. I still think she is a smart and tough lady and I respect that. BUT after watching how she has run her campaign and comparing that with the Obama campaign, I have concluded the following

a) Hilalry is too abrasive and too negative to form working coalititions

b_ The more she wants something the less effective she is

c) She does not have as much foresight as Obama (big state strategy, ignoring caucuses etc)

d) She is not able to inspire and motivate a team to stick together and work towards a common cause

e) She is essentially dishonest - she thinks the ends justify the means

f) She represent the old guard and old politics

g) She believes in an old us vs them imperialist foreign policy

For all these reasons, I will now vote Obama. He is the best candidate I have seen in a long long time ( I am a 63 year old vet)

Media personalities rarely get it. Krugman is an exception.

Clinton's plan is not voluntary. All people would be required to get health insurance. For the majority (everyone but children), Obama's plan is voluntary.

Is this NOT the bloody difference and is this NOT a bloody significant choice?

And who is going to pay for this. With the bitter taste paying my taxes still in my mouth, I think the middle class has enough burden already. I pay for everything myself and I am tired of having to pay for other people that dont have the common sense to understand you need a education to get ahead in the world. I worked hard to get where I am at and with the way this country is going, I am looking to retire in another country. I can collect social security and not have to worry about the "FairTax" they are talking about.

Alot of countries now have a better cost of living and medical is good, at least I can afford it then and not have 30% plus taken out of my Social Security check.

Thomas Jefferson has said, a Revolution is good every generation of so, might be a good time.

Obama's Healthcare Plan

As I understand Obama's healthcare plan, a healthy person could refuse to buy health insurance. Later, if he because seriously ill, he could buy insurance (he could not be refused), and that insurance would pay for his medical care for that illness. Isn't that like not buying automobile insurance until you have a car crash, and then buying insurance and having that insurance pay to fix your car?
