One of the biggest wastes of a budget the past 8 years was Bush's hardline abstinence line. No matter how many polls and graphs showed it didn't work he doggedly held to the abstinence dogma.

How can you expect kids who see all about them the people they really listen to on a daily basis, hollywood icons, sports figures, talk show participants and even our own government ( which in many ways has erased any stigma from unwed motherhood) by welfare changes that actually encourage you to have more children out of wedlock, the more you have the more money you get! Daily stories out of hollywood about this couple that lives together expecting another out of wedlock child which the story rarely calls it what it is, and a few months later they are switching partners to start up again having more children with multiple fathers. What chance does the abstinence rhetoric have against such a star studded daily bombardment! Lets get real!

What Abstinence?

It's really funny that Brisol Palin should be the new "role model" for tean abstinence. She's going around saying that abstinence is a real goal for all teens. Obviously that didn't work so well for her. I don't get how the Palin family go around talking about "family values" as if they're on some kinda moral high ground, when they're not. Social conservities...what a joke!

Abstinence? What Abstinence?

It's sad to see a young woman's future shattered by an unwanted pregnancy. The story hits home on a personal level: I am the father of two daughters. The difference is that while Mother Palin was busy chasing political rainbows, her daughter was not being watched. Obviously it sounds like someone did not do good parenting, although there is a small margin of error and it is up to the individual to make choices. As Sarah Palin advocated being a "hockey mom", what was she watching? It seems to me this is a dysfunctional family trying to hang behind traditional values that were barely visible. Sometimes you have to make hard choices, and put priorities in perspective. It appears the Palin family lost their way and placed money and power ahead of the family.

I don't see

Levi Johnston as a hockey "hunk" (more like a lunk, really) and I think that idolizing of sports kids is a key wrong-headed root of something very wrong in the attempted "hockey Mom" campaign trick.

Levi had a hockey Mom too. He was into hockey, and he had a Mom. Raised without a brain in his head, as well, apparently. Let's not forget the stuff on his web page as he did both hockey and Bristol at same time.

Let's also remember that both Levi and Bristol, and Todd and Sarah, have something in common with respect to sex timing as young people.

Doesn't matter EXCEPT that I don't want to start hearing about Palin 2012 as though this family can be recycled as some kind of paragons of "leadership".
