WASHINGTON--Protocol be damned. President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder had to talk trash about basketball.

At the AG's ceremonial installation at George Washington University Friday morning, Obama praised Holder's spunk:

"In fact, several months ago, Eric even had the audacity to comment to a reporter on my basketball skills. He said, and I quote -- here's what he said -- he said 'I'm not sure he's ready for my New York game.'"

Holder, a Queens native who played for Stuyvesant H.S. in Manhattan, waved his hand in front of his collar as though the room were getting a bit too hot.

Then the President threw down on him: "We will see about that, Mr. Attorney General,” said Obama, who played high school ball in Hawaii and still plays regular pickup games.

Holder quickly looked to get out of the hoops showdown, pleading his age.

"He's never going to see my New York game,” Holder 57, said of Obama, 47. "He's got 10 years on me, he works out.

"But had I been 10 years younger...” Holder said as the audience cracked up.
