Obama is about to reverse a law that will take us tax money to pay for abortions. I am so pissed off right now I could spit. Instead of this why don’t we teach men and woman alike to practice safe sex and not use abortion as an contraceptive. We as a country need to start taking responsibility for our actions and not punish the unborn for what we have done. It might not be fully developed but it is still a LIFE and has a SOUL damnit what is wrong with the world!?!?!?!?

I am against abortion and I am a member of The Right For Life and feel that Obama should not sign this bill into law. I protest agains it.

JD - Is this your best argument against pro-life? That we want to celebrate conception days? Seriously? Look we know that a total ban on abortion will not happen and in the current state of our cultural world it shouldn't. But for FOCA to limit parental rights and to erase any bans on Partial Birth Abortion is ludicrous.

How can you defend partial birth abortion? Don't give us the argument of a 'Mothers Health'. IF mom is in danger and you have a 2nd or 3rd trimester pregnancy then have a c-section and see if the baby can survive on its own. With today's premature technology that chance of viability is higher than ever.

But if you truly care for the mothers health do you think it is better to do the following for The Partial Birth Abortion:

A. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the live baby's leg with forceps.

B. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.

C. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.

D. The abortionist presses scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.

E. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The baby's brains are suctioned out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.

Really? This procedure protects the health of the mother vs. an emergency C-Section?

ON the grounds of protecting lives pro-choice has no argument. It is only in the realm of what our country faces if we ban abortion and the risk it poses to all women that you can present a clear argument. We have created a society that is dependent upon abortion because going without could cause anarchy.

The government has always regulated choice and always will. Free citizens do not have free choice we have alternatives but not complete and free choice. I cannot choose to rob my neighbor without facing consequences, I cannot choose to take the life of my co-worker without severe choices, I cannot choose to break the law without consequences.

The pro-life vs. pro-choice issue is a divisive issue that will divide America for decades to come, just don't make the argument about choice. Its about keeping the status quo, because banning abortion will only throw the country into cultural anarchy if our women must go to dark alleys of healthcare to cover the man and woman's reproductive mistakes and choice.

A little realism

JD, it *is* a hypocrisy to value less government and yet expect them to involve themselves with abortion, however, for the realists in the audience, the Federal government has long been regulating even the most infinitesimal parts of our citizens' lives. How many laws are on the books for crime? If we are to live in a republic where we leave God to judge, it would be anarchy, because humans do not live well without rules. There are laws that protect you everyday, and if they suddenly vanished, who could you cry to when someone robbed you, murdered a member of your family, stole your identity, botched your surgery, denied you worker's compensation, etc.? Not to bash you, but while you've got a point, laws are part of life. In abortion's case, literally.

That said, what scares me more than a unilateral abortion ban is the OPPOSITE. That's where FOCA comes in. It includes a retroactive motion to *completely abolish* any and all forms of state and local abortion regulation and prevents them from instating any regulation in the future. This is a disaster waiting to happen. There are absolutely no stipulations in either the House or Senate bill to enact needed protections for women or healthcare providers who choose to administer abortions. Laws that require parental signature for abortions performed on a minor will vanish, opening the door to victimization and coercion. There will be no laws that ensure a doctor properly and adequately explains to the woman what she faces with an abortion. And for the pro-life corner, all bans against partial-birth abortions are null and void.

Even if you are pro-choice, there are a lot of good regulations implemented by local and/or state governments. These are not roadblocks to choice, but safeguards, like those in place for any other sector of the medical field. They cater to the ideologies of the communities involved, and it is NOT the Federal Government's right to deny this. If anything, FOCA is so vague it will hurt women, no matter their choice.

Hypocrisy of the radical right!

Why is it that this segment of our population that is always ranting about decreasing the size of government and getting the government out of our lives also wants the government to get involved in a women's pregnancy? Please, stop trying to force your religious and moral values on the rest of the country. If you feel that God is just, then let God deal with it when the time comes.
