The executive branch ranks lowest on the survey's leadership index, with Congress close behind

Evolution
Nature has long had a way of dealing with the things that are no longer needed. I allows them to become extinct. The same should be true for every elected official serving in congress and in the white house. This year should mark the extinction of their political careers. Its obvious that none of them even bother to listen to those of us who placed them in office. The vast majority of Americans told them not to pass their wall street bailout. Did they listen? The majority of Americans voted against our current president, not once but twice. How did he get into office both of those times? What is to become of our elderly after they are too old to work? Is it fair after all of their years of hard work and paying taxes? I was taught in school as a child that our laws are made based upon the evolving standards of decency of a maturing society. I no longer see that as being true. I now see our laws being made to keep an established status-quo in place that guarantees that average everyday citizens of this once great country will remain no more than average or become much less. Why would we even consider trusting a political body that has already betrayed us on soo many occassions in the not so distant past (the last 40 years)? We are being treated as little more than sheep being led to the shearer to be fleeced. None of our current politicians are innocent of this fleecing, therefore, the next few years should should show all of them experiencing their political deaths. That is the only way for the citizens of this country to regain control of our lives. Otherwise, we are doomed to a new form of slavery. The kind in which we have to feed, clothe and house ourselves while making sure that our masters are all very well taken of. This is a true word to the wise.
Ignorant?
Dear Sandra of GA,
Could you explain and back your comments regarding Marxism and Communism? I think ignorant people like you should stay with McCain. We are in America and as a political expert, I don't think you should assume what other ignorant out there are talking about. Read and inform yourself before posting your opinion.
obama
you are ignorant to vote for obama.
with all his past friendships with marxist and communist.
stupid.
Credibility
The issue is credibility. George Bush, by his own hands, has destroyed his, also marring the office of the President of the United States. No WMD were found in Iraq; Osama Bin Laden still at large; Iraqi civilians imprisoned outside of their nation without given the rights we so highly cherish, brag about, and endorse others to follow; American boys and girls killed or maimed for the benefit of big corporations involved in oil production and profiteering; and now a failed economy, strung high for the past eight years on speculation, founded upon nonexistent liquid funds. Regardless of what others says, the U.S. government, President, his cabinet, and congress were fully aware and responsible for.
AMERICA IS SAFE WITH OBAMA-BIDEN.
IF ANY THING HAS TO HAPPEN TO McCAIN CAN SARAH PALIN TAKE OVER AS THE PRESIDENT , WE HAVE SEEN IT ALL ,WE NEED OBAMA TO TAKE CHARGE, THE GAS PRICE HAS COME DOWN BEFORE THE ELECTIONS AND IF OBAMA BECOMES THE NEXT PRESIDENT EVERY THING WILL CHANGE FOR EVER, WE ARE SPENDING TEN BILLION DOLLARS EVERY MONTH IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND DOING BABY SITTING FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD.ITS 96 MONTHS WE ARE SPENDING TEN BILLION DOLLARS EVERY MONTH, WHY.IF WE SAVE THAT MONEY AND SPEND IT ON OUR AMERICA WE CAN BE A MUCH STRONGER NATION AND EVWRY AMERICAN CAN LIVE A AMERICAN DREAM LIFE,WE DO NOT NEED McCAIN -PALIN ,WE NEED OBAMA -BIDEN IN THE WHITE HOUSE TO MAKE AMERICA A SAFE COUNTRY FOR OUR CHILDREN.
McCAIN TOOOO OLD .
JOHN McCAIN IS TOOOOOO OLD TO BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT.

Get over yourself!
The crypto-fascist Republicans swiped the 2000 election, so now its the lefty Demos turn. We survived the last 8 years with George and well survive the next 8 with Obama.
Doesn't really matter anymore....
We are running at full speed toward socialism - doesn't matter which party gets in - they are both ruining us.
You know which mortgages the government will "buy." The worst ones. If these people couldn't pay the banks, they aren't going to pay the government. The outcry will prevent evictions. We're going to see a huge amount of government housing.
Buying stock in the banks? Hello national bank system.
A national health care system looks inevitable. Mental health must now be covered the same as physical health by employer health plans. Insurance costs just jumped. Many employees won't be able to afford they higher contribution. Many employers won't be able to afford it and stay in business. Both major excuses for the government to take over.
If you've never been to England, you have no idea what the standard of living is compared to here.
I am so sad to see "the land of opportunity" going away. I'm watching the decline of personal responsibility. Life isn't "fair" and sometimes things are tough. Letting the government "fix" it is just making us a land of sheep.
I hate to here people say, "it can't get any worse." Yes, it can. It is going to get much worse. And it is because we are letting the government "protect" us from some adversity. Wave goodbye to your rights and your good times. Get ready to be hungry. And one day, when you are reminiscing to your children about how good things used to be, remember it is your fault they lost all these wonderful things that personal effort and responsibility offered this country.
leaders not trusted, not needed, not wanted
[Nearly 39 percent of Americans said the country would be better after the election, while 7 percent said "worse."]
Wow, I feel sorry for folks who are putting their eggs in a politician's basket. Seems awfully, awfully naive. As for me and my house, we will cover our own bums on this one and would appreciate the admittedly crummy "leadership" staying the heck *away* from us.
Better after the November?
Astonishingly, almost half of the population believes the country will be better off under McCain-Palin than under Bush-Cheney!
The pair Bush-Cheney, however harmful they were to the US and the world, at least consists of an intelligent person (Cheney) counterbalancing an utterly mediocre dogmatist (Bush).
The pair McCain-Palin, in contrast, consists of two blocks reinforcing each other's obtuseness. Great for Evangelicals and those who believe in the Rapture, but terrible for everybody else.
Those who think Bush-Cheney have anything to do with the current mess should think twice before they contribute to elevate McCain-Palin to the same level of influence.
