Suspected militants armed with automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenades, and at least one suicide car bomb assaulted the U.S. Embassy in the Yemeni capital on Wednesday. The coordinated attack killed 16 people, including six assailants, officials said. The U.S. said no Americans were hurt.

Government Steps in Again, Bails Out AIG With $85B
The U.S. government stepped in Tuesday to rescue American International Group Inc., one of the world's largest insurers, with an $85 billion injection of taxpayer money. Under the deal, the government will get a 79.9 percent stake in AIG and the right to remove senior management. AIG's chief executive, Robert Willumstad, is expected to be replaced by Edward Liddy, the former head of insurer Allstate Corp., according to the Wall Street Journal, citing a person it did not name. Willumstad had been at the helm of AIG since June.

3 U.S. Soldiers Charged With Murder in Iraq Deaths
The U.S. Army has charged three soldiers with murder for their role in the killing of Iraqis last year. Authorities say the Iraqi men were blindfolded, shot in the head, and dumped in a Baghdad canal around April 2007 in alleged retribution for casualties within the 172nd Infantry Brigade.

In Houston, most residents in the nation's fourth-largest city remained without power, making it tough to track the latest information on where to pick up supplies. Electricity wasn't expected back on for at least another week for most residents.
