Obama said Friday "Maybe [I've] got Muslim connections"
Obama had apologized to two women who were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women's headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate at a rally in Detroit in June.
Then he goes to ground zero to: 'put aside politics and come together - to honor the memory of those who died in the attacks.'

Babies to unmarried mothers
It should be noted that in France, approximately 52% (fifty-two percent) of all live births are to women who are not married as we define it in the US. However, one may not assume that there is no father in the household. It should be further noted that only nine states in the US do not allow for but do recognize common law marriage, if in pre-existence from other states.
Marriage as we think of it today in western society is normally characterized by two contracts, one between the parties and recorded at a governmental level; and the other a religious contract publicly announced and observed in a religious institution. From a legal perspective, only the former is required for civil legality.
As to the age of marriage, one must look at the totality of the culture in question and be careful not to submit to the comfort of cultural relativism. Remember, biologically, both human females and males are physically ready to reproduce at about 13.
As countries westernize and urbanize (as is the process extant in eastern Europe) the mores and standards which are most common in societies which have gone before will gain currency.
Retarded Reporting
Quote: "It is a common practice in South Asia, with nearly 50 percent of girls getting married before they turn 18. India's rate is almost 70 percent. Parents often marry off daughters at an early age for money to support their family."
This is such a retarded reporting. It may be true that in South Asia 70% of girls get married before 18. However, It does not tell how marring off their daughters, generates money to support the family. The reported has no clue. At least, in south Asia, marriages are very costly affair, to the parents of the girls.
Before writing a report, please understand the relevant material. Do not provide "Cable News" like "Talking points". No wonder, nobody reads news papers any more.
Marraige under 18
Perhaps they should have examined the # getting married under 16 (legal age of marriage in many countries).
Besides, what's wrong with getting married young? ASIDE from the fertility clinics that would go out of business.
War In South Ossetia
There used to be a saying regarding the reason the USA used the atomic bombs on Japan, supposedly to end WWII.
It was: "Well the Japanese started it by attacking Pearl Harbor in a sneak attack on a quiet Sunday morning on December 7, 1941."
In other words, pay back time and end the war.
Well here we go in 2008, with the Georgians attacking the South Ossettians in a sneak attack at night. Georgians succeeded in destroying thousands of civilian homes, a hospital, schools, ancient churches and a historic synagogue.
And the Georgians destroyed, right down to the ground, government buildings and a meeting hall.
Why they even killed or wounded hundreds of civilians. Not to mention Russian peacekeepers.
The local Ossettian militia fought back against the open aggression of the Georgians against their families. Of course they did. I would have done the same.
Of course the Russians reacted to this Georgian sneak attack. And reacted VERY strongly!
WHAT DID the president of Georgia expect? Did he ever consider there would be a possible serious Russian and local militia response to this aggression against civilians?
He started a sneak attack at night and his forces got smashed and chased home to Georgia. He was lucky that the Russians did not come all the way to his front door and drag him off to be tried as a war criminal.
After his forces were defeated, there appears a BBC video of him eating his tie while waiting to speak with some Western leader on the phone.
After seeing that video of him nervously chomping his tie, it made me believe he was NOT ready to govern an ANT FARM.
Before he started his war on civilians, I had suspected that he was a crass and craven man. He was, after all, such a good and loyal friend to George W. Bush and his attack dogs, John McCain and Dickie Cheney.
Georgia needs a regime change all right. One without a puppet president dangling on the ends on strings controlled by Americans. Americans whose foreign policies are now failed almost beyond repair.
marriage under 18
This has noting to do with Christianity. Societies where the girls marry young have factors that include high death rates, low life expectances and poverty.
The family may simply what to ensure the girls are protected and care for, especially in societies where its harder for unmarried women to succeed.
This is the same even in societies where there are a high percentage of Christian believers.
As Christian, we should be concern about systematic abuse taking place, not to assuming those marrying under 18 are systematically being abused without further information.
Here in the US we have our own problems. Such as a growing percentage of women who want to be marry but never marry, children born out of wedlock, women who want children but not able to have children because they waited pass their reproductive years.
Why get married
Why would women get married in the US. The policies clearly reinforce that women should be having babies out of wedlock at an early age. The male will be responsible to fund this and the government steps in with extra funding. It is a perfectly acceptable 'life-style' choice in this country.
The whole liberal establishment shuns and ostracizes any form of the traditional family structure and is in power to have the government subsidize any and all lifestyles that deviate from that traditional nuclear family. Essentially, you get paid and rewarded for choosing a lifestyle that is not traditional, especially if you can claim to be at some sort of disadvantage because of your own choice.
The more self destructive and self indulgent your life style choice the more the liberals love you and want to reward you.
"A resolute strategy in Georgia"?
The author, Robert Hamilton is an "expert" in Asia and Russia. How did he become an expert? Well, he spent three years in a military unit stationed in Saudi Arabia and then wasted tax payers money at "George C. Marshal" center that gave us another "expert" in Russia: Condoleezza Rice. Should we trust his assessment? Maybe, if he hadn't been working at the US Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia. But since his tunes resemble so much those of Rice, Cheney and Bush, I would be very circumspect about the validity of such assessments? Even people in their own parties are trying now to distance themselves from the three "geniuses" the dragged the US in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
marriage under 18
Just because something has been done for thousands of years, doesn't mean it's the right way. Christians used to stone people for adultery, do you think we should bring that back too? Times have changed, the average lifespan has increased tremendosly over the centuries so it makes sense that marriage would happen later on in life. It was not strange in her day for the virgin Mary to have children so young, but now that is obviously not the case. Today girls who marry young are more at risk for domestic abuse, rarely get to finish their schooling and have children earlier, which leads to complications because their bodies are not yet fully developed. Marriage should be a choice you make when you are old enough not something you are forced into.
so whats new
this spending has been going on for decades....what a waste
