Poll Watch: McCain Gains on Obama, Buoyed by Crisis in Georgia
In new poll, McCain narrows Obama's lead to 5 points

WINNING
HEHE...OBAMA RUNNING terrified...
NIKKI, ARE YOU FOR REAL?!?
So here's another flimsy, baseless propaganda piece from good ol' corporate media, designed to get the fringe goblins hopping and shrieking. It's almost laughable. The reality is, Americans are too busy struggling to stay alive in this failing economy to be concerned with how McCain or Obama handled the slickly-timed Georgia conflict, other than which one of the two is most apt to throw us into yet another economy-devastating war - a war we can't arm or pay for.
Way to stir up the goblins, Nikki. Poke 'em til they squeal!
Lol
To Katharine.
A warmonger? Then why is it that McCain who came out and said what he said right away has kept his opinion the same. While Obama who first came out with a rather generic and standoffish statement has come out and changed his opinion, one that now closely mirrors McCains?
That shows that McCain is not a warmonger, but rather an intelligent person, with a VAST knowledge of foreign policy, not just Iraqi policy, but Russia, China, and so much more. His previous knowledge and understanding of Russia helped him to make a more informed initial decision. Obama on the other hand didn't understand the situation, made a lame-duck statement, and then once he was briefed on what russia and georgia are really like, changed his statement to be similar to McCains.
Do we want a pres who makes decision after decision (russia, offshore drilling, etc) and then goes back on them once he learns what the situation is really like, or do we want McCain who knows and understands the US, and the world problems, so that he can make informed FIRST decisions, then I want McCain.
Its the vacation stupid
Frankly, the reason the poll gap is narrowing is two fold:
(1) Obama was on holiday last week. He was not even campaigning. If McCain can't get a leg up when Obama is not even working, then what is he doing?
(2) we are in the deepest holiday season. And we are in Olympics week. No one is paying much attention. And the ones at home answering the land line phones are almost certainly not representative of the entire voting population.
The notion that McCain somehow is turning the tide is not true. Wait a week, especially until after the Democratic convention.
We will see who is leading then. And yet, that will only be the beginning of the race to the finish.
Katharine
McCain did not gain an advantage over Georgia- it showed him to be a mouthy warmonger instead of a reasoned statesman- we have already got one of those, thank you. It also pointed out again, the fact that his campaign is full of lobbyists, this time, lobbying for a foreign country. Once again, McCain's involvement with dealmakers, just like the DHL fiasco, shows that he is making decisions at the call of his cronies, not in American interests at home. With all the trips McCain has taken to Georgia at the behest of his lobbyist, and with his 'We're all Georgian' comment, one begins to understand that for McCain it is indeed 'Country First'. The questions is, which country?
Sometimes changes are bad
Change is not always good. To wit:
In the 70's, we changed from the gold standard to money backed by the faith & credit of the U.S. government... that was a terrible change.
In the past few years, banks changed their underwriting standards for obtaining a mortgage. We know how that turned out.
These are but 2 examples. There are many more. So running purely on a change & hope platform without specifics is no better than running on any other platform. Obama supporters are blind to that. The only specifics I've heard from him is raising taxes on people making more than $250K a year. Everything else is PURE SPIN. Even some of his Democratic supports in battleground states are asking him to be more concrete and specific.
I know he's a great orator but I don't want a smooth talker. We have enough of those. So give me a break about the old fart McCain. At least I know where he stands.
NoBama now NoBama Ever
I find it very discouraging that democrats have no more respect for this country than to nominate a fledgling politician with 140 days experience in the Senate. NOBama is about as qualified as Mike Brown was to run FEMA.
Our Country is strong due to the leadership of W our economy is fundamentally strong and no there is no recession as we have had no consecutive quarters of contraction.
CNN & MSNBC will continue to lie about the economy, the war and the President as it suits their agenda.
If you are for: High Gas prices, High Taxes, Surrendering a war that is all but WON, and Murdering babies then vote for NoBama!
Mccain Versus Obama
To think that some who can speak loud about war is the answer to dealing with Russia is not only foolish but assinine. To old time blabering and posturing will not and cannot work in these times. It is these same hawks who lacked judgement about invading Iraq that has given Russia reason to invade Georgia. these same old hawks who now say this is the 21st century and you don't invade another country, can't understand what they did when they invaded Iraq, and to think that these jokers such as mccain can deal with Russia better that Obama is a Joke. Mccain has no credibility with the civilised world, how can he be effective in dealing with Russia. being in the military and talking war is no criteria for leadership of this nation.Good judgement and common sense are a prerequisite, hiding behind general Patreaus's successes in Iraq and claiming good judgement to support the surge is like a child hiding behind his mama frocktail after he has done his mischief.that Judgement maccain is claiming now must be weighted against his judgement that has left wives without husbands, children without fathers and mothers, mothers and fathers without sons and daughters over 4000 american lives lost over $800 billion dollars wasted. He needs to get another General Patreaus to right the wrecked economy that his judgement created and then we will know if the surge works for the economy. Obama has consistently presented foreign policy positions that Bush and Mccain have now co-opted as it relates to Afganistan, Pakistan, and Iraq just to name a few.It is the reality we must face that the dream of old men is not a vision for the future. the old ideas and bellicose voices are not the elements for dealing with Russia in the 21st century.Bush looked into Putin's soul what he saw is not what we are getting from Russia now.Mccain said he saw the KGB in Putin. It will be a sorry time for this country if old ideas and old men would ascend to the office OF POTUS It will be reminiscent of the old guard that ruled the soviet union.America take your Pick. As for me I Pick OBAMA
This election is a complete no-brainer. Obama recognizes the disaster we have on our hands and wants a clean break from Bush's failed policies, which were "accomplished" at our expense by perverting government, trashing the constitution and everything it stands for, and antagonizing other countries, all because of his greed for power. McCain has said he agrees with most of Bush's policies. If Obama wins, we could end up with the drastic reversal of course that we need. If McCain wins, things will improve slightly (since no one could be as bad as idiot George), but otherwise things will remain as they are. If that's okay with you, vote for McCain. If you want significant change, you'll be foolish not to vote for Obama. No-brainer.
I just wish all you Democrates as well as old, young rich, poor and what ever your race is stop being racist and realize that OBAMA is the one to be Preaident. All you ones that call yourself a true democrate are hyprocrates because you say you will vote for MCain becasue Hillary lost. Wake up and realize if we want a Democrate in the white house we need to stick together and vote for OBAMA even if he does not select Hillary to be his Vice President. Don't let McCain fool you with all his promises. They both have alot of work to do but Obama even though he is younger and has not been in the Senate as along can do a better job being President then OLD McCain. Remember you can only blame yourself if Obama is not elected.
