Reimburse the US for the invasion

In response to "Iraq can't spend its oil money" of GA. "They can reimburse the USA and other countries that are over there trying to bring peace and stability to their country."

It's normal for countries that are invaded to pay the invader back for the privilege of being invaded.

Destroying electrical grids and sewer systems don't come cheap. Also, since 1 to 10% of all Iraqis have died, there are that fewer mouths to feed. If every Iraqi had died in the invasion, all the profits of the oil could have gone to the US: no need to share it at all. And we wouldn't have any pesky insurgency: there would be peace and plenty of oil.

I hope you can tell I am being sarcastic.

Social Security & Iraq

I think it is absurd that WE are paying for most of the rebuilding in Iraq! Why can't they use the proceeds from oil sales to finance their reconstruction? It's CRAZY! Raising the retirement age the help Social Security sucks! I want to retire when I'm 60, not 65! If we can find TRILLIONS to spend on the war effort in Iraq, then we can surely find a billion or even 500 million dollars to save Social Security.

Iraqi Surplus

No joke....let's work a deal where the Iraqis pay us cash (big amounts) for the military training, schools, infrastructure, and the ongoing "police" action we are involved in. Seems simple to me. Or, we tell them we are leaving tomorrow....wonder which alternative they might choose?

Surplus

Let's take the Iraqi oil surplus and use it to fund Social Security! I'm kidding.

Iraq can't spend its oil money

They can reimburse the USA and other countries that are over there trying to bring peace and stability to their country.

Increase Retirement Age?

How about we just scrap this failed program called social security. I've been paying in to that system for 14 years now, and I would be happy to sacrifice everything I paid in to stop paying. Draw a line with age, and let the people below that line opt out of the SS system. If you're scared we won't save for retirement then, then make it automatically change to an IRA. That way the money will be spent on stocks and bonds, so it will increase in value, so we can actually retire instead of being spent by congress on pet projects. Why we stand by and allow corrupt crooks from both sides of the isle to waste our money confuses me. This happened once before, it was called the American Revolution.

Iraq's Oil Surplus

As long as our Govt take the money out of our pockets and keep spending it there, no reason for them to use their cash to build the country. If we stay there another 5 years, they probably will have a surplus in the trillions and some nut case will take over the govt and use all that excess money against us.

Time to get out and let them mind their own country.

Increase the Retirement Age

Those of in the workforce and disappearing pensions no darn well that the SS retiremnt age has moved up. What these idiots have to do is inform big business where all of the HR policies are geared to kick people out when they reach 65.

IT IS A SHAME USA CANNOT PAY VETERANS ALL THEY OWE

IT IS A SHAME USA CANNOT PAY VETERANS ALL THEY OWE

But the USA, leaders can pay for failing building construction killing USA Soldiers, giving the bad water to drink, NO BIDE CONTRACTS, in Iraq, paying Iraq, for help not done, and the USA, LEADERS, FAIL TO BUILD BRIDGES, AND HELP HEALTH CARE FOR USA CITIZENS AND THEIR IS MUCH MORE MISUSE, OF USA, CITIZENS. 7TH ANGEL VOICE

Iraqi shareholders

I've got an idea about what to do with that money... an American idea. I say that some of the oil profits (i.e., DIVIDENDS) should be distributed to registered Iraqi citizens, on a monthly basis. Let them have a little regular cash flow to invest in their homes, communities and businesses. Issue some shares. Allow them to be passed to heirs, but don't allow them to be sold or pledged. Make the Iraqis feel like the country really does belong to them.

And, to keep things going our way, and to stay in keeping with their Islamic traditions, if an Iraqi is found involved in capital crimes, crimes against the state, or our occupying forces, whether that is murder, treason, sabotage, bombings or even suicide bombings, then the offending Iragi AND HIS FAMILY (parents, spouse and dependents) would forfeit their right to these dividends. Same idea if a family member kills someone to obtain their shares. If I know that part of the world, the jilted survivors will soon come to be known by some descriptive and ugly name. And if I know human nature, these dividends will be highly valued, and will contribute towards the building of an ownership-based society.
