A Growing Trend of Leaving America
By some estimates 3 million citizens become expatriates a year, but most not for political reasons

This is Allison Hudgins. The article talks about my husband and I and our 2 young children. Thought I would give you an update (since someone assumed we left because of the Bush Administration). We are still happily living in Panama. Our decision to leave the U.S. had NOTHING to do with the Bush Administration. In fact it had NOTHING to do with politics at all. We love the U.S. and along with all of its drawbacks. We are Americans and this hasn't changed because we moved.
We left for a variety of reasons and have never said we wouldn't return at some point when it made sense for us. Right now, we are enjoying the opportunities we can provide our children...learning a foreign language, traveling, meeting and making friends from all of the world and enjoying a different culture (with all of its pros and cons as well).
We are lucky enough to be able to return to the U.S. several times a year, which we do. And at some point, I'm sure we will return at least semi-permanently, for the kids' higher education. And to ensure that our kids have the option to remain in the U.S. or choose another country to live.
leaving america
wow! I am glad I did when I did!(after that complete born again idiot won again)I now live in italy. No american style paranoia(no cops under every bush,no crimminal IRS,no neighbors looking at you like your a pervert(take a walk in the south in a neighborhood were you are not known)when you turn on the TV you do not get 24 hrs of hate, propaganda or zionist war mongering. Most important you do not have to see that red white and blue flag of lies everywhere you look. The food supply is still healthy(if you avoid the garbage from america that has made inroads with the young)Beleive me,there is nothing that is "no.one" in america.I cannot say everything is great here, but there is still a touch of humanity, compassion that one will never find there amen
Trend of Leaving America
"Yet if you listen to any of them today, the Glenn Becks, Rush Limbaughs and Lou Dobbses insist that people are still flooding into the country.
Why aren't these people in a mental hospital instead of on TV and radio?"
Hey Chris! Move to LA for a couple of years, and then try to say that with a straight face!
America-21st Cent
The reason the US has gone to the dogs is because their populace has become fat, lazy, and stupid. Even their kids are obese, and their education ranks in the bottom of developed countries. They eat like pigs. They single handedly keep the big pharmaceutical industries in business with their obsession with prescription drugs (more than half the country as been diagnosed with one mental illness or another and takes pills for it) and probably do the same for Latin America's illegal drug trade! They hide behind their religion (all the while having rattling skeletons in their closet like affairs, drug use, and sex with kids). Most are content to sit in front of their TV's watching American Idol, eating their garbage fat-inducing fast food while their politicians rob them blind. How many years has YOUR Senator or Congressman been in DC? 30? 40? When was the last time you voted? If America has gone to sh*t, it's your own damned fault for not caring enough to get up off your fat, stupid butts and DO SOMETHING about it instead of just whine, whine, whine. The Founding Fathers who authored and signed the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights would be ashamed of what the US has become.

Moved to Honduras
I moved out 4 years ago to Honduras and am really glad I left. Life in another country can be trying but the self-center-ness and having to make the most money, biggest house etc is not here.
Honduras is defending its right as a sovereign nation against all comers. I am really glad to be here where the true re-birth of patriotism is happening in support of removing a want to be dictator. The country is calm, in spite of what news outside is reporting. When you live outside of the US you really realize the lies the American people are being told to make you believe the worst about other places.
I highly recommend putting your stuff in storage and going someplace and live for 6 months. You will have an entirely different perspective of the American lifestyle.
There are huge opportunities for business to startup at much lower costs. Living without having to have 4 seasons of clothing. Much more relaxed lifestyle. I do not like going back to the US and have only gone one time since moving here. It was a real shock to recognize the wastefulness of the US that once was taken for granted. I did not like it and could not wait to get back home to Honduras!
Emigration
It isn't only the US people are leaving. In the UK 1,000 people per day are emigrating. It's high crime, high tax, and rapidly dropping standard of living are the reasons why.
Asia is the place to go. Singapore and Tokyo have extremely low levels of crime. I've walked around those cities late at night and felt totally safe-something I cannot say about any western city.
My advice? Get out while you can.
Why I'm leaving
The country is completely corrupted and deluded. We think we're the freest and best country on Earth, but the reality is that we've lost our way so badly over the last 150 years and there is such arrogance, that I do not see any plausible way of living as a free person in America. I'm going to Asia where they don't take half my money and tell me to be grateful for it.
How Time Gives The Same Answers
The States are the best place on earth. We have plenty of everything including corrupt politicians and crooked money men. How funny it is that this article was published during the last presidency. How many of the expats in the story have returned? How many readers are freaked out with the new administration? Time reveals all; even the same answers under different story lines.
