Walnut Hills

When I read this last year, my school, Walnut Hills High School, was on the list and our school had a celebration day becuase of it.

I saw it made the list once again, which made me happy.

And for those who dont make the list, just try to work harder to get better grades and make your school the best it can possibly be.

My school has been on the list for year, rated Gold each time, beacuse we all work hard, go to collage, and have successful lives.

I think this list is accurate.

I was a sophmore last yaer, taking 6 AP classes, and passed each because I studies, along with being a tutor for 5 subjects, taking my varsity soccer team to state finals, and acting in 3 of the school plays.

School is mostly about acedemics, but sports and extra-curricualar are inportant also.

Strive to do the best, and maybe your school will make next years list.

of course best can mean different things

TJ, the number one school in the country is close to where i live. (arlington, VA). It's definitely the best school for math in the country but it's english is terrible. sports are terrible too and it's like 50% asian lol. I love my highschool because it's really good in academics, great teachers, it's private which is so much better than public, low cost, it's great in many different ways. Arts, sports, groups, etc. many famous people went here and we were ranked #4 in the country by ESPN for basketball and Rugby in '08-'09. Gonzaga college highschool in DC. wikipedia has an article showing most of the renowned people who went there. Brian Westbrook went to dematha, one of our rivals in maryland but that school was number 1 sports program in the country in '06.

lies, damned lies and statistics

Here's how Newsweek arrives at its rankings: Take the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge (AICE) tests given at a school each year, then divide by the number of graduating seniors. That's it. Newsweek doesn't even adjust for whether the students pass the exams.

Add to that the concern for "fairness." In other words if minorities and majorities have similar results the school is deemed superior.

I agree with first comment. I know both Whitney and Stuyvesant High Schools very well. The idea that there are 29 places between them is meaningless.
