Best High Schools: State by State Statistics

Teachers
Who or what teachers make 60-80k a year? I am coming to your state.
Hawaii's outstanding high schools not included!
Hawaii has two of this country's finest high schools: Iolani School and Punahou School. Dr. Sun Yat Sun--often referred to as the Founder of Modern China--attended both schools, and President Obama graduated from Punahou. Both are among the oldest schools west of the Mississippi, and both send very high percentages of students to America's most highly-rated colleges. Yet, neither is mention among the top 100 best high schools. Come on, U.S. News...do you know where Hawaii is?
Unfair comparisons
I always hear about how the US is so far behind in education averages when compared to other countries. The problem i find is that in the US, mentally handicapped and the less well off still go to public schools and are counted in these "averages". Most countries in the comparisons do not include either.
Revise the ranking
To mention things in an honest matter, most of these schools are free, because taxes pay for education here. But, over seas, the best education you must pay for. Looking at things like this would mean what? The educational system should have American children moving much faster than the rest of the World. But in fact we are not. I live in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York State, pay over 12k in taxes and my children have to go to private school. The teachers are not teaching, and all of the kids that go to school are learning 1-2 years behind. When will they catch up. On top of all of this the teachers make 60-80k a year. I am going back to school to become a teacher. I need to get easy money. A qualified teacher is always needed.
School Ranking
Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas all score in at the top for statewide achievement on standardized test scores but all fall in the bottom of the U.S. News rankings. As usual, the U.S. New ranking of educational institutes are meaningless.
Massachusetts schools
Well, we pay high property taxes to pay for the schools. I guess it is paying off, but it could just be that Mass is the best of the worst. Would like to see a comparison with other countries. After all we are a global society. I'd like to see how the states rank when the other countries of the world are included
Southern Maryland Schools
Do you have rankings for Calvert, Huntingtown and Northern High Schools.
State by State Analysis
Hmm. Let's see, 5 of the top ten are New England states. There is one southern state in the top 10. There is only one state in the west in the top ten. Seven of the top ten are eastern states.
Seems to me that New England is doing something right. With Ohio and Illinois as the only midwestern states in the top 10, it appears education east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon line is much stronger and better facilitated.
The rest of the country should be looking to the way education is being run in the northeast part of the country as an example of how to improve their schools.

How to compare the KS and Mo school ranking or quality, living in Greater Kansas City area?
Maryland over NEW Hampshire
