Best High Schools: Gold and Silver Medal Schools by the Numbers

Cannot put much into thiis ranking
Unfortunately, US News with all its cutbacks seems unable to put together a comprehensive analysis anymore. Who knows how the two "missing" states would do if they were ranked, for example. Most states have only a fraction of the high schools analyzed. The fewer the schools analyzed in a state, the better they do. Just do a regression analysis and see for yourself.
Problem with this survey, it is biased on what data can be collected and not necessarily on the quality of the schools by state. Why the SAT says you cannot compare state to state - some states have such a low participation rate (look at Wisconson), that only those who are the top 10% of the class take the test - and they score the highest in the country. Why to find a creditable ranking of high schools is so hard to find. Anyone is better off looking at comparable high schools in a district, region, or state than to use any list that US News can come up with - at least with this methodology.
open enrollment vs. magnet/charter schools
They should rank the open enrollment private schools apart from the charter and magnet schools. My high school was given a silver level, but every other school from AZ on the gold list was a charter or magnet school with small class sizes and merit based enrollment. It just doesn't seem right.
RE: Lawl.
Only public schools~
Lawl.
Well, my school's in the silver medalist schools, and I'm just wondering if this is only public schools or something?
The Liberal Arts and Science Academy
The article completely missed this great school. The Liberal Arts and Science Academy in Austin, Texas. It is the only magnet school in AISD. This is a top rated school with excellent students and faculty, not only in the state but also the nation. The school has been rated top 100 in other publications.

Hi
I am from one of the schools that has been ranked a gold medalist for the past few years, and this is the first time I have looked at this blog. I am shocked at how rude and pretentious many of the writers act. Middles school students flaunting there ranking and having grammar fights where they are clearly not well armed yet, probably because they have not had to the opportunity to attend any of there high ranked high schools. I can associate with Steven Letourneau of NH because although our school is very well ranked and many of our students go on to schools to contribute to the rank of the top national colleges, our campus is rather dilapidated. It is still an amazing education, but of course I am not sure if that is the case in New Hampshire. Beyond that, we are a charter school and some of the writers on this blog need to familiarize their vocabulary, because not all charter schools have selective admittance, it merely means that they are able to set a charter and run a school according to its rules, I believe magnet schools run similarly. In fact our schools admittance is on a lottery system, and I like the challenge the selective admittance schools give. Now I can understand your concern when a schools high ranking may go to affect your college acceptance or whether or not you will be able to attend that high school. But we must all remember that these ranking, all of them not just those for the high schools, are there to show the inquirers which schools are the best to attend, regardless of how difficult it is to get into that high school and how they select. I do agree that this can however affect a system that is judged upon test scores, solely, because after all the students may just be very intelligent instead of well taught. Maybe keep the best schools the best but change the criteria so that a schools teaching is more impacting upon their rank than the student's original intelligence. Certainly, there is no reason to be uncivil in your views of these things though, because you should all be proud of your schools. Besides there is nothing worse than someone who is conceited without cause.
GO WREN
WREN IS THE BEST SCHOOL IN SC!!!!
