Best High Schools: Bronze Medal and Honorable Mention Schools by the Numbers

Ranking High Schools In This Manner Is HIghly Misleading
There is no doubt U.S. News' decision to start ranking high schools is motivated by profit. What's next, ranking elementary schools?
This manner of ranking schools based on AP tests and the like is utterly irrelevant to the quality of the schools. I hope and believe that colleges and universities will ignore these rankings. Sadly, too many parents and students will not.
Losers
losers where is the stinky list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randolph, VT
I'm confounded that Randolph Union High School has been honored, as in statewide standardized assessment results it performs at the state average. My guess is the school's percentage of students taking AP courses pushed it over the line. However, that number is inflated, as I'm confident the statistics didn't include the population of students attending Randolph Technical Center.
Congratulations High Frontier !
My name is Mike Keeper and I am the math teacher at the High Frontier High School in Ft. Davis, TX. We are located at a residential treatment facility, and some days are really tough.
I want to congratulate the faculty, staff and students for achieving Bronze Medal status in your report. We are all very proud of our accomplishment. I am personally proud to be working with such a great team and with the most awesome principal I have ever met, Mrs. Becky Farrer. We could not have done it without you!
Early college
As an admission counselor at a large university we do not like the early college credits. When tested on enter level math these students place lower than AP and IB.
Many colleges that open there doors to early college enrollment do so since their enrollment is low. There is a reason their enrollment is low.
Let the students stay in their high school and take dual credit classes, only for the general freshman classes.
Most of the early college students think they are ready for a large progress university since they have attend college. If you place an 18 years old next to a 21 years old there is no comparison in ability to handle the course load that is demanded at a univerity.
Good Job!!
I am happy to see that the Les Cheneaux High School being recognized for their hard work and obvious successes. Cedarville is a great town with some very hard working citizens (students included) who make it happen. Kudos to you all!
We are proud of our school
This is the first time every that Johnson County Westside has ever been mentioned for any kind of achievement. My children go to school there. I changed them to that school district last year because they were not learning anything in their other school district. I can say as a mom they have improved a great deal since transfering to this school. I was proud to hear of this school recieving a bronze medal from this magazine on their rating system.
Did you evaluate high schools in city of Plano of Texas
High schools in city of Plano at North Texas are, in general, considered as pretty good high school system in North Texas. I am wondering did you evaluate those high schools? I am surprised that non of the City of Plano high schools is in your top high school list.
Misleading Posts
Verne and Steve Epstein seem to have made statements simply based on what they have observed rather than researched fact. "Dual" credit, not duel, (duel being a contest between two parties) are sometimes tought by college professors. I am a freshman in the University of Colorado and received dual credit in high school. Five out of six of my classes were taught by community college professors over a system named ITV whereas classes of students are taught over a webcam in a classroom. (The professor remains at his college and the students remain at their highschool)
Duel/dual
Duel and dual are not synonymous. Duel education means they're taught to duel with fencing swords or guns. Dual education means something else entirely.
