i was hoping to see a list of top independent schools so i could see if my school met the criteria. Instead i was shown an article. Hopefully next time when u update it you'll include in numerical order from best to worst (1-100).

weird
This article is interesting to read but definitely way too un-true!!

Re: Dual Enrollment is NOT AP/IB
As someone who took a fair number of dual enrollment and a couple AP classes (granted many years ago), I would disagree with Thomas of VA. Our dual enrollment classes were accredited through a CC, but taught by faculty at our magnet and/or high school (I attended a half-day magnet program and half-day at our "home" school). I later attended a "top-25" university and a "top-20" law school, and some of the dual enrollment classes I took still rank as some of my most challenging. If CCs taught the AP curriculum, I'm sure there would be angst for most of those students, but many of the dual enrollments are NOT CC classes.
Dual Enrollment is NOT AP/IB
Roger,
Here in VA, dual enrollment is most certainly NOT as challenging as AP or IB. If community colleges taught the AP/IB curriculum, they would very likely have a 95% failure rate. I say this as someone who has taught both levels.
Challenge Index
I would submit that the Challenge Index is flawed. At several high schools in Virginia, students are opting for direct college credit courses at community colleges, as opposed to taking a test to determine college credit. This is called dual enrollment. Several of our students can earn an Associates Degree and a high school diploma on the same day and transfer to a four-year college as a junior. This program is more challenging than AP. Your index should measure not only AP and IB but students who earn college credit while still in high school (dual enrollment).
