Alternative assumption

I don't think it's accurate that those who don't want to report are white. I believe that AALS has found that non-reporters in its hiring conference are disproportionately minority.

In addition, the assumption that non-reporters are white is unlikely to be accurate in a school where most reporters are minority. For example, non-reporters at Howard are probably Black/African-American.

A better approach would be treat non-reporters as having the same racial and ethnic diversity as those of reporters at the school.
