Online Career Fair

The best way to find out about the different colleges and also the admissions process is to go to an online career fair. They are usually free and you can get most of your questions answered. I went to THEVIRTUALCOLLEGE.TK to the career fair, where it was free to sign up.

sucks...

I was going to apply ( albeit) late to one of these private colleges on the list but was told by admissions that I wouldn't have word on whether or not I would have been accepted until June.

( BECAUSE of the "volume" of applicants)

It's a small, private college with good programs but housing is limited. I thought my luck had all but run out, and that I should just accept one of the offers of admission from one of my fall back schools--to be on the safe side and not leave my future dangling in mid-air.

I begrudgingly settled for less. Now I look at the list and see that there is SPACE available at my "dream" college in the HUNDREDS and I cannot kick myself hard enough.

I just feel so cheated...

Great Article; Very Helpful

It's not so much "forgetting" to apply to college, but instead (at least for me) it is making up your mind. I had my mind made up that I'd join the military, and after thinking of the advantages of college, I was limited to community colleges. Yes, I should've applied to different colleges anyway, but application fees, SAT's, ... it's not worth while if you had your mind made up on the military. At least with this article I have a "second-chance" at a better education. Hopefully I can get into one of these schools.

How do you "forget" to apply to college?

How do you "forget" to apply to college?

It pisses me off how one school on this list rejected me and they still don't have enough spots to fill their freshmen class.

late admissions

As a former admissions director, i can tell you that hundreds and hundreds of small private colleges will actually lower their admissions requirements at this point in the year, and it actually can get easier as fall gets closer. I have always thought that this was the biggest dirty little secret in higher education.

It comes down to confirmed deposits and money. If the school budget is based on say 500 freshmen, and there are only 400 paid deposits at this point, the race is on. Admissins committees will really losen up, because they understand that it could impact faculty positions etc., if the budgeted figure is not met. It is really like any other business.

freshman spots at the most competitive institutions can open up when students withdraw.

i guess the bottom line is that now is still a good time to get into college.
