Columbine anniversary

Why must we continue to report, analyze, and broadcast this story? A cursory search on Google for "Columbine copycat" shows lots of people who have tried to re-enact the massacre. Already many in New York City, including the Mayor, are attempting to dissuade people from celebrating the anniversary of 9/11, so why not Columbine, too? At what point does it become possible to credibly argue that keeping this event in the public consciousness encourages copycats and therefore additional shootings? At what point do news organizations themselves share part of the blame for the production of copycats?
