Gay High Schools Offer a Haven From Bullies
But the schools in Milwaukee and New York also reawaken the debate over school segregation

Gay Schools
What makes being gay so special that you need separate schools anyway?!?! So then maybe obese, thin, short, tall etc... children should have their own schools too right? See? It goes on and on in a never ending circle that causes even more chaos. I think this is created on purpose by those who have an agenda to fracture and destroy the very fabric our society. "Divide and Conquer" (Communist Manifesto). The NEA and Teachers Union are huge culprits and need to be abolished.
What I truly find amazing is gays embody the true hate they accuse others of. And when they don't get their way, they run around like a bunch of spoiled brats who can't have the toy they want. We've all seen it.
Being teased is nothing new. All children do it. It will always be there in spite of this insane PC coddling that only makes children more dysfunctional. They need suck it up like everyone else does, and quit acting like the world owes them a throne. This is the real world.
All Male Heterosexual Schools?
Be honest: these homosexual "friendly" schools espouse and promote homosexuality no matter what the promoters and participants want to believe. It's ridiculous to believe that heterosexual students who voice their singular preference for the opposite sex are as accepted as those who are openly homosexual or "questioning" their sexual preferences.
If, however, these homosexual school promoters are being truthful, then they certainly wouldn't mind special schools that are all male and strictly heterosexual-friendly. If I sent my son to such a school, I wouldn't worry that he was being hit on by a teacher or another student or encouraged to "explore" his homosexual possibilities. Instead, he'd be encouraged to explore his subjects like math, science, English, etc. rather than his and other men's penises!
The homosexual school promoters believe the lies they tell themselves and to others. But, some of us can see through it to the truth of their true motivations.
Gay Learning?
I for one am tired of this issue. Schools should be for learning the basics: reading, writing and arithmetic. Our children are so dumbed down that more than half can't even read by the time they graduate high school! Real education is squeezed out for politically driven, social indoctrination! The government ruined public education the minute it took it over (as with everything). Now everyone has to have their piece of the pie for their own agenda. Utterly ridiculous! Keep the gay issue out of schools. It doesn't belong there! The more it is singled out, the more polarizing it becomes. And more money isn't the answer either... IT IS WHAT IS TAUGHT! This is the parents' job, not daddy government.
Gay Hideout Schools
This "takes" the cake in my opinion, my God what have we gotten ourselves into when "Queer" is the lifestyle choice? Many have chosen this heretofore "In The Closet" And against the State Laws, of most states.
Now we have Homo's running Congress, ala Barney Frank, and giving San Francisco a really bad name as the nude Queer Nation threaten Churches, that teach that to live according to God's Law is tantamount to Nazism. This what I call sick, and it will get worse and eventually we will have a Sodom and Gomorah where even God fearing folks will fear to tread.
God help us all and may the Lord show these sadly, mislead youth the error of their sick, Homosexual ways!
I Pray for all of you Homosexuals, Lesbians, and cross dressers.Especially for the parents that support this abomination, for you will be judged Mightily!

Whatever happened to just living w/o declaring your sexual preference? What you choose to do when you are out with whatever gender is your choice is your business. Do we all need to wear signs now decaring what our sexual inclintion mught be?
self separatism
Jim Crowe is turning in his grave. schools for blacks, girls and gays. separate but equal struck down by white males judges is embraced by the people who call it evil when i do it and love when they do it. this is worse than hypocrisy and betrayal-it is an anathema to everything this Canadian straight white male was raised to expect of the civil rights movements. as the comments reveal, the ones who love these policies the most are the haters. women non whites and gay people are as susceptible to the politics of difference as whites and males and that means that with each passing year, they will identify with 'their tribe' more and 'the other' less. watch who cries the sky is falling when you eventually dismantle these bio ghettos- it won't be me it'll be the children of segregation. are there any baby boomers out there who foresaw this in their wildest acid induced nightmares? to me there are no true liberals anymore-only pseudo liberals, dinosaurs and hypocrites, wolf criers and separatists, neo racist/sexists, Orwellian robots who have lost sight of what they were trying to achieve.
This is a well-meaning idea, but only a short term solution to a long term problem. Still, what can you do? It's helping, I guess. Once these kids gain self confidence in friendly classrooms, they will be able to hold their own in work environments. Still, on the side, educators should not stop looking for a more lasting solution, one that integrates itself into culture. So that people like this: "I too would like the gays removed from the schools. I don't like them in school with my kids, especially if they are teaching the gay agenda in the school. IF they can put them in a seperate school that would be great. I think we should all support this idea! The less gays and the less gay agenda in the normal schools the better" grow brains. Missed the entire point of the article, moron, dincha?
So?
It never ceases to amaze me when hairless monkeys reject societal norms and then act offended and hurt when society rejects them right back. I guess they wouldn't be bullied for choosing a homosexual lifestyle if they hadn't chosen to live a homosexual lifestyle.
I think it is great that these schools exist although they definitely are not the best solution. I am in high school and I am assuming that most of you posting here were teenagers at one point too. It is a tough time and given the current conflict over gay rights in this country, I think it is perfectly fine and necessary for gay students to have a safe, friendly environment to learn. At the same time, much more needs to be done to educate Americans and try to remove the prejudices which exist towards gays in this country. I absolutely cannot stand when people claim there is a "Gay Agenda" which all gays are trying to "poison American minds" with. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE "GAY AGENDA." I understand that many people are uncomfortable with the idea of homosexuality but I do not understand why those people are convinced that being near a gay person will make you gay. It's not as if they are some other type of human with a severely infectious disease that kills anyone who walks nearby. Gay people are people, plain and simple. Until people realize that, gay-friendly high schools are a good thing.
Gay high schools
What kind of society do we want? A segregated one where people only mingle with "their own kind?" Sorry, the cat's out of the bag. Forced segregation is no longer an acceptable practice. And yes, this is progress!
So what are the schools to do? School policies are not the only determinants of the attitudes and behaviors of their students. Non-school factors like parents, the media, society, religion, race, SES and individual preferences are all part of the mix. Much as they might try, schools can not control all the bullying that occurs.
So what's wrong with gay-friendly schools? As a matter of choice, not forced separation. Open to all students, knowing that there are many straight students who might prefer a gay-friendly high school as well.
In a perfect world, all schools would be gay-friendly. Friendly to all racial minorities, even the "funny-looking" ones (sic). Friendly to students of all faiths, including those of no faiths. Friendly to tall students, short students, fat students, students with zits all over their faces. Students with strange-sounding names. Friendly to nerds and dweebs. Yada, yada. But we will never have a perfect world, and we certainly will never have perfect schools.
Some differences between people don't mean much and don't contribute to bullying and harassment. Some differences do, and sexual orientation is one of them. So let's be honest, fair and practical. For some students, separation would better be a matter of choice. But NOT forced.
