i completly agree with what has been said, i have grown up knowing i would be going to university no matter what. i think a university degree is well worth the money and in the long run will definatly pay off. and i think all parents should help and support their children in doing so, and if this isn't possible the government should step in. in aus we have HECS which i think is great s you don't have the stresses of paying off your studies until you've finished. ultimately i think university can be vital to succeed in this world

I'm thinking the same way like that chic you got to study hard to get a good career out of it, I know college is a very expensive matter but you have to struggle out there whether you borrow money from somebody to pay the college or make a loan or even do a yard sale whatever you can do to get the money for college don't give up.
Nursing
I'm a student at university, I am doing University Preparation Course(UPC).After this course I am thinking of doing nursing. However, the fees is so expensive and I'm not working that hard to get the money for University. So,I am worried that might I won't finish but as I talk to my collegue, they encourage to study and not think alot about money because I soon as I finish my degree, I will get a good job.To work hard in the class is really important because when you get a good qualification it is easy for you to get a good job. I am puting alot of effort on my university perparation course ,so, I can go to my course next semester.
How Much Is That College Degree Really Worth?
Im studying at univeristy doing a preperation course for Nursing. Im worried about my fiancial situation when university is over and i have to find a balanced job to start paying the fees. Although there are many rewards for a degree. The unemployment rate for college graduates was just 2.2 percent last year, half the unemployment level of those with only high school diplomas. SOme put alot of time and effort in what they are studying at university, some say you shouldn't worry about money, but if you don't have money how are you going to pay for your career? Then you would start thinking is it worth it? As the above comments are comming from basically the same point of view it is hard to be financial stable when at university.
I put a lot of effort, time and money into getting my degree in finance. I graduated in 2006, but am living my worst fear, working as an educated waiter. I had to work at a restaurant full time during school, so the only jobs I qualify for are either full commission sales or pay about $8 an hour. What happened to a degree counting as experience? It's funny, all me friends that didn't go to school were out getting experience and now they are doing a lot better than me. To me, college wasn't worth what I put into it. Maybe I would think differently if I had someone else paying for it. If I could send my degree back and get my money back, I would do it in a heartbeat.
College for Bludgers?
Hello! I am an Aussie and thinking of going to University again (did go for a year two years back) - I hated it like many of you do not understand the point. However, the only possiblly possible career for me (I am limited by many things) requires uni. Now, I have joined the work force and have a real job and am hoping to keep it this way. Will I, however, still just be branded a uni brat who went just to avoid the real world? Will it be worth it????? Ah, how tragic that uni is a bad thing nowadays! p.s I knwo that money lies in Business but i am no way skilled/creative enough!!! :(
Liberal arts degree
I have mixed feelings about "higher education". I have a
BS degree in Social Science with course work in:sociology,
anthropology, political science/public administration and
social work. When I graduated in 1979, I went looking for
work and got rejected more times than I could care to count.
Our local(Wyoming) economy went sour during the the 1980's
to 1990's. Things have picked up. The best careers have
been anything in the medical/health care: nursing,
pharmacy tech, occupational therapy, physical therapy. I am
trying to get back on my feet.
BS MA PhD JD = BFD
Every degree I eaarned got me a lower paying job. BFD
STILL HAVE NOT FOUND A JOB
I recently graduated with honors .BAS in Accounting and Human Resource Management, still have not found a job.Iam beginning to wonder if the degrees are really worth it! College is just a preparation for your future. It's not a guarantee that you will be successful .It's really what you do with that degree what matters. In my experience, job experience goes hand in hand with education. But how can you get experience if no one wants to hire you?
I am so glad I have my degree...
And I have no regrets about the work that went into it. Having my degree has given me credibility and flexibility in my various jobs, including my volunteer positions.
I agree that it comes down to reading.
My older brother has been a business success without a degree, but that is due to his innate business saavy and resilient personality.
To "Evan" in SC, I would suggest that you if you had a degree, your use of slang (gonna), spelling (reap what you SOW) and punctuation, would be improved. I would also point out that someone who works as a professional in a public servant position (district attorney) will have be paid less than the same position in the private sector.
