Age Factor
I have a question?… MY husband received his Senior Reactor Operator Permit from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and holds a Qualified Resource Operator License from ASME back 1970. At the time hew worked in the nuclear field from 1970-2003 since then he left the nuclear plant worked for at a trash to energy plant, unfortunately he was laid off in July of this year due to change of contract. My husband is now trying to get back in the nuclear field but has had no luck… I was wondering could there be an age factor?

Fast-neutron reactors
Read "Fossil Fools" by Joseph Schuster ! It's a must read for our new government. We need to construct these new reactors ASAP and stop burning fossil fuels that are poisoning us and our environment.

A very fast growing engineering school is at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. They are moving ahead in overall energy engineering in s big way. Charlotte is the home of a number of energy engineering firms...a center of activity for the industry.

Nuclear Industry support for licensed Professional Engineers
If you think the number of new nuclear engineer graduates is low, you should check out the dismal number of engineers that become licensed as Professional (Nuclear) Engineers each year. Historically the nuclear industry has not supported such licensure. This is unfortunate as this is perceived as an arrogant attitude by many members of the public, especially when other engineering disciplines require such licensure in order to advance in their respective fields or to work as consultants.
