Honda President: No U.S. Recession

Auto exec says he expects sales to stay strong

It seems as if more and more economists are way down on growth prospects for the U.S. economy—but don't tell that to Takeo Fukui, president of Honda: "There is no sign that our sales are shrinking.... I don't foresee a recession." What's got him so upbeat? Honda sales on the East Coast have never been better, Fukui says. That success, at least in part, comes from the fact that consumers are loving small and gas-efficient cars right now, when gas prices are high and "going green" is the hip thing to do.
