One day after he resigned as secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld shipped off for a previously planned lecture at Kansas State University--where, the Daily Kansan reports, he avoided talking about both his resignation and Tuesday's midterm elections but did quip about the extra attention those events brought to the lecture. "I hope you all appreciate how skillfully I managed the public affairs for this event," he told the crowd of about 4,500 people in attendance for the speech in which he discussed the similarities between the war in Iraq and the Cold War.
