A recall announced yesterday for a common children's vaccine alarmed parents, but officials said there is no need to worry. Drugmaker Merck & Co. recalled doses of a vaccine against Hib, which causes meningitis and pneumonia, and a combination vaccine for Hib and hepatitis B. The doses were recalled after the drug company discovered sterility problems at a Pennsylvania production plant. Merck supplies about half the nation's annual supply of the Hib vaccine. more >>
