American forces discovered a torture center in the Diyala province in northern Iraq, the military announced today. The center, located next to a grave where 26 bodies were found, still had blood-spattered walls and a metal frame bed connected to an electrical shock system. Morning Buzz: Dec. 7, 2007

The revelation that the CIA destroyed interrogation tapes it made in 2002 of two terrorism suspects caused a stir yesterday on Capitol Hill. CIA Director Michael Hayden made agency members aware of the tapes because the New York Times was set to publish a story about their destruction. Hayden said congressional intelligence committee leaders were made aware of the tapes and were told of the CIA's plans to destroy them. After the revelation, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee said they would conduct a full review. more >>
